This'd work if it was something like "cards in your hand", but this would not work at all as is

Just seems like the cards that are switched out with the opponent would be useless if they weren't darkness cards.

Why? If the opponent had 4 dragons on their field, even if they weren't , they would get transferred to your field. Who wouldn't want that?

Oh ok the card didn't state that the cards would be used; just that they would go to your hand.  I just assumed that if you didn't have the quanta you wouldn't be able to use them

Maybe you can force the exchange to use the same type of card.
To be more clear: a permanent for a permanent and a creature for a creature. This way you cannot exploit it if you have no creatures, and you will only trade permanents.

Perhaps you should state that on the card, cuz if it was confusing for me it might be confusing for others.
