The buff should not have a major offensive component. If it did the opponent would always target it first (forcing you to always target it first). However a minor offensive component would be a good idea.
How about regeneration counters? Like purify and poison for the player. We have poison and aflatoxin for creatures, but not regeneration.
Purify is generally ignored unless you want to protect against poison, the regeneration is usually an ignored factor. On creatures this gets even worse; most creatures die or will die quickly from CC, and infecting your opponent's creatures is generally not a perferred form of CC. Or, think of it this way: When was the last time you were thankful you had an Angel's healing at your disposal?

Angels are strange. When i use them (Archangels) i'm very happy to have the heal ability. When i don't use them, i don't miss the heal ability.

Since we are discussing about mainly defensive buffs now, the simplest examples are granting a creature
+0|+X as a "pure" defensive buff, or
+Y|+X, where X should have a much higher vallue than Y for main defense with a small offensive component as suggested allready.
Those should definitely be in the poll, when we set it up, imo, since they are the most "basic" examples of a definsive buff.

When trying to turn my dive ability into a defensive one, i thought of doubling the HP and MaxHP of a creature until your next turn, thus halfing the damage done to it during the opponent's turn after returning to its initial state. I'm also suggesting this effect not to stack (probably showing an icon on the creature, that wears off after a turn), since it would be way easier to balance this way.

Edit: I'm disliking the idea of having a series of 12 swift-creatures, too, but having more than one shouldn't hurt.

Creature regeneration is a rather restricted form of Anti-CC. It really only works against Infection and Fire Shield. Thus regeneration counters would be used primarily for the player. Since the player's regeneration counters cannot be targeted, the opponent will always prioritize harming the Swift creature.

I think it may be time for a new poll...
What buff should Swift grant?
stackable protection against negative effects for a certain number of times?
simple stat boost?
Creature regains HP?
Your own idea?

Agreed, we need to narrow down on suggestions. I've also added "Creature gains beneficial Active/Passive Ability" as an option on the new poll.

Well, I can't speak for Zblader, but from my point of view, your post count here seems just so high because most of the others (excluding OldTrees and Zblader) are posting so little (including myself).

What he said. Based on the looks of this thread, we end up having a few "core" members stick to designing after the early stages posting as needed, while everyone else participates in the polls (17ish other users has to account for something :) ).

Sort of. SoR allows  :time creatures to use their ability twice for 1 turn and lowers ability cost to 0.
Swift allows the creature to use their ability the turn they are played.

I thought Swift acted liked SoR's  affect to some degree.
The current creature has two abilities:
Passive: Swift: This creature can use its activated ability on the turn it is played.
Activated Active: ???: ???

Poll is trying to further define the ??? ability.
