I dislike Gargoyle Hate

You'd think Obsidian, as fragile as it is, would have a higher chance to break.
What's the thematic connection to killing all gargoyles?

The Gargoyles are being formed from the same Brimstone, so would it be farfetched to think they would all erode at the same time?  Especially if they are under the same sort of stress on the field?

The low chance to break is to make the Gargoyle spawning more worthwhile.

Specific creature hate is bad design.

Obsidian being very brittle is hard to connect to the sturdy-ish gargoyles.

This card feels like a less thematic and worse version of that one earth permanent that spawned gargoyles.

The Creature Hate was meant to offset the Gargoyle production, an attempt to make it less abusable at 2 for 5[7] hitters.

The creature hate would have completely been mitigated if instead of gargoyles it spawned something with a different name....

but I don't think Fire really has a need for a swarmer, and the thematic innovation I feel is really weak.

Who said it was a verb?  It's a single word used to describe what I hope to be some towering creature of sorts.

Is there any possibility of an obsidian to also be a brimstone?

Obsidian is a smooth rock formed of cooled lava primarily made of Silicon.  It can also be used to reference a kind of black, akin to that of the rock.

Brimstone is, simply, an alternative for sulfur.
