Your card could replace every instance of the word life with earth and it would make just as much sense. So you have not explained why it fits Life.
Additionally a mass instant kill effect that does not take hp into account would not be accepted.

So there is only 1 of this card? The name should explain what it is not who it is. Also the cards in game so far have not taken the easy path of saying "this entropic beast belongs in entropy because it has the word entropic" so if a name must explain elemental affinity then it should do so without a loop. Pinocchio 2.0 would work better if you had a name that invoked thoughts of aether and growing.

Makes sense. Improve the mechanical aspect of the card next because the thematics seem complete.
Also would this not work better as a mono Aether card (that was not immaterial) that was either a defensive creature or a permanent that provided a boost to all of your creatures?

The boundaries of "themes" of the elements are not only objective to your personal view, but even in your own personal view the boundaries are both amorphous and ambiguous. Crystals are totally godlike and reflective(one of the themes of Aether), and it's more of a texture/color thing than a composition thing. These crystals may not even be made of rock. Crystals are just what you call something whose atoms are arranged in an orderly pattern. Order. Aether.

Well, at least i got the ability right.

Why is crystal seed immaterial? So you can't fractal it, so you can't buff it, because the idea would just be OP without it being immaterial.

This whole package is Aether because you have something that pretty much makes a temporary(ephemeral) copy of itself. And it's Life cuz it's a tree.

True it could have been a  :air/ :fire duo with :fire used for the immolating rebirth. However the Phoenix is mythologically a symbol of fire.

Thank you for explaining the thematic reasons.

Mostly I believe that the author of a card should have a thematic reason for the thematic aspects of the card. Hence my inquiries when such reasons are either not apparent to me or looks to be missing. In your case I expected to simply have missed the reason as was the case.

As for the immateriality for balance reasons:
It is a good starting point but it would be ideal if another solution was found that fit the theme of a crystal plant or have the theme of crystal plant change to match the immaterial seeds.

I am not the judge of whether a thematic reason is accurate. I am just a source of questions and inquiry to help flesh out the thematic aspect of these thematic based cards.

I think that in general shortcuts are a bad idea.
However crystalline plants that grow from one dimension into another would explain the immaterial nature of the seeds.

As people surveyed the insects such as ant colonies and bee hives, they wondered how they were so organized, and suspected there were some sort of hive mind behind it all. Of course we now know better the function behind it all, but the legend of the "Hive Mind" has lived on and how it communicated to and controlled the members of it's hive by some incorporeal means, telepathy or psychic perhaps.

So yeah, it might be a bit forcing to do dual colour out from it, but the basic idea is the same. Boost insects (this time bit faster) and if eliminated, slashback to the insects - the sensitive creatures to psionics, as the death cry burns them too.

Probably will have to drop the cost still, as nightfall/eclipse is so cheap, and they don't have a drawback.

Finally got round to making a first version of my previously mentioned idea:




idea
basically DS is a spirit which isn't quite in the 'real' world, so is immaterial but also weak.
Vitalis is a creature full of life which is gained from giving DS life, but therefore it is in 'our world', so no longer immaterial.
Wanting to make Vitalis a bit more interesting, creating a Spark speaks to the aether origins which spark off this creature so full of life!
At the Moment, Vitalis is not thought to be a card you can have separate, but only through evolving DS. It has a cost in case it has rewind cast on it, so then you would draw Vitalis next turn rather then it turning back into DS.

discussions
stats (and cost) of both creatures?
have Vitalis as a separate card as well (like Graboid/Shrieker)?
the create Spark effect - bad/boring/good?
