At first glance, I thought this card was extremely OP, but when you think about it, Quintessence much, much better.

nope, if the creature dies it loses all of its buff including the shard's effect - it acts exactly just like rewind but only trigger when the creature dies. if otherwise this card will be totally OP - i.e. you don't need eternity to prevent deck out.
