Untouchable Rares Deck https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=2841.msg23739#msg23739

Here's the idea that I posted and got removed for some reason... I'm reposting it :)

Very unique and fun deck, yes, it would be VERY hard to get all the cards needed for this deck, but it is very difficult to counter!
-No creatures except for immortal Morning Glories, so creature control don't work.
-All of your permanents will be protected, so no permanent control either.
-Insane health and regen, hard to kill :D
-Mirror shield protect against fire lances, etc.

Whoa, this is a very tight deck. Control decks are dealt with because there is nothing to control, offensive decks are controlled thanks to insane healing.

I personally dislike Shards of Divinity, and I would take out some of them to add in more Imp Miracles. :D but that's just a personal opinion.

How does this deck do in terms of quanta? It looks like it could use some more towers to get a faster start. The one thing that stands a chance against this deck is a Devourer deck, because you're constantly low on quanta.

Then again, a stall deck with either Bonewalls or Phase Shields could just deck this thing out. This deck, although very shielded, has no control elements of its own.

Thanks for a great deck.

Achilles heel for this deck is a Fire Buckler, just one and you're now unable to damage your opponent.
If you try this versus FGs, i'd be interested in stats. I ran a similar deck (with fire mark and explosions for permanent-control) against the FGs and lost 90% of the games due to deck-out. Just couldn't do enough damage against opponents with lots of regen, or lots of shields, or the damn Fire Buckler.

I was using a similar deck before. I found the utility of protecting permanents is pretty low. You could just add a few more towers to counter any steals or explosions of them. Yes, you get more vulnerable to quicksand but it's not worth it just to counter that. Similarly, people don't pack many explosions or steals in their decks. Having to protect all SoGs against 1 or 2 cards is not worth it.

Surely there is no legitimate reason (other than not bothering to upgrade in the trainer) for the light pillars.

Also think about upgraded Sundials. You make light quanta anyway and you generally would make more than 2 per turn. Also the card draw means adding them doesn't make your deck any slower most of the time. Yes, they can get stolen or exploded but the 1 turn of not attacking can help you heal up or get the necessary light quanta to cast a miracle in a dire situation.

Well... good point and yes, I forgot to upgrade them to towers, didn't notice  ::)

This could be another variation to the deck, for sure, switching to fire mark and having 6 explosions instead of protect artifact. Can't think of any way to conveniently have both... I guess its up to the player to choose between protecting permanents or permanent control  :) As for sundials... Why not?

Yes, shields are the biggest counter to this deck, but not everyone has a fire buckler or permafrost shield in their deck. I would personally use this for PvP, Can't imagine this deck beating a fake god with 200hp :P

Correct. With the new updated to shields effecting Immaterial creatures, Morning Glory was changed from an 8/1 to an 8/4.
