So it sounds like people want steal to give you a free (no quanta) to play vines that you can target on any permanent you want...

That seems reasonable (though perhaps hard to code?).
Maybe instead of being free, the upped version could just cost 1 random quanta.

that is an idea but it doesn't really solve the problem of stealing unupped vines.....

I think the best thing would be that when you steal vines you automatically go to another targeting screen and can target perms.

Ie I click my steal card, Allowable targets are shown. I steal vines. Vines disappear but I am still shown targetable perms. When I click I place vines.

This could work.
If the second targeting screen is cancelled could the vines simply be destroyed?

If you cancel the second targeting... Yeah I guess the vines would go into an aetheric dump...

Any last comments before I send to Crucible?

Prices are fair?

Thanks for helping to sort out the steal confusion all.

Looks great, price is good. A more versatile protect artifact, but also with offensive capabilities. Go :life, this card will work great and add some flexibility.

I like the idea, but I feel like it is almost a watered down protect artifact.  The two have the same quanta cost both upped and un-upped, but protect artifact is forever, while these vines are only a soft protection.  There might be some way to capitalize on how you can 'snare' your opponents permanents.  There are 5 rare weapons that have activated abilities and 4 other permanents that do as well (maybe missed some, did that count fast).  It seems to make the ability stated on the text to be the secondary effect and the soft permanent control to be the more primary use of the vines.

Perhaps a rewording of the text so that people know about the soft permanent control before they use it?

Another suggestion (that changes it a bit more) is to allow the vines to target creatures as well.  This would take out their activated abilities until you kill the vines (like a soft lobotomizer).  The vines can have 1 HP or something.  That also allows you to buff your own creatures briefly against things like poison or fire shield.  Might be too large of a change, but would allow it great flexibility in what you wrap in vines.

This makes a neat combo with Cloak in a Life deck with Darkness mark.  Two layers of full field protection for your fragile critters.  Rustler needs fear no evil!

I found this thread reading about this card Restrain | Enchain (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,29992.0.html) from moomoose (do not annoy). His idea applies to creatures. I find both cards very interesting.

A nice NEW PC spell mechanic is (among other things) what the metagame needs (IMHO). Very good work.
