No clue for the logic they followed to send vs us the lightstal, magic mindgating on their behalf, maybe randomise deck choices.

No clue for the logic they followed to send vs us the lightstal, magic mindgating on their behalf, maybe randomise deck choices.
This wasn't a randomization nor was it mindgating.  They chose this deck because they expected certain decks from us and thought this covered all their bases.  deuce said it would win against both UGs and a grabbow.  I don't see it winning against UGs as lightnings + lobo + fractal angels with a clogged hand isn't enough.  deuce expected a grabbow but tried to cover his bases.  deuce isn't above sending the same deck, slightly tweaked, next time we face them if he believes it counters all our decks.

The number of Psions is totally noteworthy.  Phase Recluse has 2hp, so a stall with Lightning Storms and Mirror Shields would be a phenomenal option.

These look like well chosen decks to me:

Fractal Vampires vs :death - Fractal counters Bone Wall, Vampires counter Poison - it would have died an awful death to plague but who runs plague (Note: this deck can be used effectively against us if they include Nightfall as well).
Spoiler for Deck choice insight:
Saw darkness mark, and i knew it is the deck we anticipated.

RoL Hope vs :darkness - The massed quanta generation counters Pestal reasonably well (and Sanc just adds to that) Hope defeats most of their creature based attack - that leave darkness either playing a deck out stall, or getting lucky choosing something with mass CC.

Psiontal vs :entropy - Psion counters Bone Wall and Diss Shield, Fractal should trump AntiMatter and lightning kills every in-element creature they field. I suppose Panda would have made a bit of a dent, but without a shield capable of blocking them they would still have been out-rushed.
Spoiler for For Deck Choice Insight:
Mindgate is 2-1 this round. Really happy to see us pull off a win here.
Not quite a suicide, but a forced attempted mindgate. We had to do the same vs Entropy this round, but it worked out for us.

Fractrix vs :fire
Don't expect many gifts. This was more a result of putting our better roles elsewhere. We fielded a pretty crappy deck with the hopes of mindgating 1 of a couple decks. We obviously failed.

Had same issue with death. Vamptal only beats a couple decks of theirs, and we predicted correct. Although that match was much closer than what our testing showed.

Mono Rush vs :life
Lobo to counter jade shield = pro move. I imagine they felt confident rushing life - mono means they can attempt to power thru quanta denial & Psion gives them the ability to crack stalls.

4/5 of their decks had fractal and the one that didn't had PU. Leaves me wondering what is the best way to go around fractal...NM or Tstorm or both?

Not a ton to add here so I'll just repeat myself again.  8)

Winning against Team Aether is as easy as
1) choosing the deck or decks they think we're most likely to send
2) building 1-2 decks against us using their vault and the above expectations
3) build a counter to those 1-2 decks using our vault
4) profit

4/2 this round. Their trend continues PU or fractal in every deck. I think they dont need to mindgate really, just their decks are very versatile. Very limited use of dims overall during those 3 rounds

End round discussion
PUboids, a scary deck I believe, can OTK fast , rush faster. This is not the standard version
Psion dim/lightning/fractal a deck that has everything thank god it lost
Bonebolt this fractal version tends to be scetchy with its Q and gets worse with fewer ups. Surely they got a poison version of it.
Sancstall is an annoying deck, deuce seems to not think highly of it (round 1 match pm comments), so they might not try to salvage this one
Rol/hope nasty one probably we wont see it in our way due to Ts and UGs. Just for the fear of it i would pack 2 TS in every deck we sent vs aether
Devtal another nasty one, as long as we keep our lightstall this will hopefully not be coming our way.
They seem to go very light on lobos. Vs us I think they are going to use lobos due to fear of 2 nymphs and acctits

I assume they are conscious of it - that would be the motivation behind bringing Fractrix against us last round - our obvious counter to Fractal is Tstorm - Fractrix is largely resistant to that.

If we feel they're likely to rush us again, something like this might be a good starting point for our build:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5ib 5ib 5ib 5ib 5ie 5ie 5of 5og 5og 5oh 5oh 5oh 5ol 5ol 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 7gm 7gm 7mu 8pp

I've tested it a bunch and I believe it's a slight favorite versus their PU grabbow and a slight favorite against Fractix.  Wings and Sw would help against PU grabbow; more toads and tstorms would help against Fractix.  Which makes this a prime candidate for the Str role.

Fortunately or unfortunately, we've now hid our Light Stall for two rounds.  They might believe it to be dead, which means they might not limit themselves to their grabbow and Fractix.
