Chapter 8: Who Would've Known?
Discord listened outside, she could hear the howling of the werewolves her mentor and general had given to the general of darkness. They were stronger than before, and louder. She put the pillow over her head, trying to block out the eerie sounds of the howling. Why did her general have to launch the attack at night? She knew what the howling meant, and she knew she had to be there for the attack. She swiftly got out of bed, and raced outside. Within the few moments it took, she was standing beside her mentor instantly.
"There you are, Discord," he sounded relieved,
"I was starting to think you died." he chuckled, and she just sighed. They both knew how tricky darkness elementals could be. Some say they even captured other elementals' children at night just for fun. she shivered at the thought, and looked over to where the werewolves were headed. Gravity headquarters. She mounted one of the big beasts, and followed closely behind her mentor. Within moments, they were charging towards the shiny building. Discord looked around her, and watched as shadows emerged from random places in the darkness, riding dragons as dark as the night itself, yet glistening with shiny obsidian gems, riding alongside them. Within moments, the ground shook like an earthquake, and the line of werewolves stumbled a bit. She noticed in the distance, two figures standing side by side. One was holding a weapon, which shined dully, and had a ball with spikes on the end of it. He lifted it and smashed it on the ground, sending another wave of earthquake rippling through the ground. This time some of the werewolves fell over, and soldiers started using a different tactic. Within the next few moments, dragons, iridescent purple, and shining like crystals, came swooping down on the battlefield. They were spitting chaos seeds everywhere, frosting the ground with ice, or charring it with scorching hot flames. Each one was random. One even landed on one of the werewolves and Parallel Universe'd it. What luck. More howling rose, like the sound of eerie ghosts trying to sing to each other, creepy. Discord let out a battle cry, and dove headfirst at the two figures ahead. Another smash on the ground, but it was dodged as she ushered her werewolf to jump in the air. She shouted at the two figures, and with a swipe of the purple sword she had in her hand, she managed to spar the weapon away from it's wielder. He grunted, and leaped at her, climbing up the side of the massive beast she was riding. It was only them now, both riding the werewolf as it howled and looked back at the attacker with malice in its eyes. As she tried to kick the brown haired soldier off of her wolf, he grabbed her leg. She wrenched it out of his solid hands, twisting her ankle in the process. She just grunted, but now her pursuer was on top of the wolf as well. Getting annoyed, she punched him in the face, but he braced solidly, and mirrored her move. She growled, getting ready to make her next move. It took her a few moments to realize that she was fighting an earth elemental. Her mentor had warned her about how stubborn and thickheaded they are.
"This is quite a battlefield for a little girl to be out on." he cooed, Now he had done, it. She could feel the rage rising in her now, hot as fire. She wasn't a little girl. She should've known earth elementals weren't smart enough to keep their big mouths shut when they were battling other elementals. She knew he was only trying to daunt her to get a better chance at winning, but that was not a good way to try. She growled, and steered her werewolf away from an upcoming wall, and lashed out at him with her sword at the same time. Now the wolf was heading towards the gate, and with a heaving jump, the werewolf went over the gate, and back out onto the battlefield. She looked at him in a scolding way, saying in her own way that she was not a little girl. The soldier looked surprised, and she took her chance. She lashed out with her sword again. He grabbed it, his hand coated with stone to protect it. The stone armor smashed, and they both went tumbling off the wolf, onto the ground. His other hand was coated in stone too, and he punched her. It felt like she was hitting a stone wall, face first. She stumbled back, and she felt liquid slowly dripping down her face from her nose. She held a finger up to it, and pulled it back, looking at the red liquid that was on it. Blood. She looked back up at the earth elemental, and he chuckled lightly.
"Do that again," she dared,
"Go on. You want to win don't you?" He froze, and looked at her blood on his hand. He looked almost, sad?
"We're not allowed to kill our opponent," he sighed,
"We were ordered to keep any defeated elementals as captors." Fear rose in Discord's stomach, it would be better to kill than to keep as a prisoner. She couldn't lose this now, it was no longer an option! She scrambled to her feet in a flurry of blood and fear.
"No.." she stuttered,
"I can't let that happen!" she held her sword up, ready to battle. He just stood there, and within moments, he pulled out a potion. She backed up as she realized what it was. Basilisk Blood. She didn't want to go down like this, she got ready to run. But it was too late, she had hesitated too long. he threw it at her, and everything went still, as the ground rushed towards her. She listening to the sounds of battle around her, and somewhere in the distance. Her mentor, calling her name.
This wasn't good...
