NOTES:
minor revamp with art change to reflect lack of response for permission for the original art (original version below)

death mask is passive and as such will not be overwritten should an active ability be picked up.  the chance for death jester to pick up a status or ability is calculated on a rather complicated formula which normally results in 42%.

NOTES:
Death Mask is similar to scavenger in the sense that it is triggered upon the death of a creature.  The unupped version can apply good effects such as adrenaline, momentum, immaterial or even vampire, as well it can also apply poison, gravity pull, aflatoxin to the harlequin should a creature die with it applied to them.  The upgraded version will only apply beneficial effects on the recently deceased creature.

The atk|hp and cost are a bit wonky for this card, I wanted it to be cheap but also have the death jester be able to give some punch if some of the right buffs come along.  Suggestions are welcome to this end.

Does it also apply buffs like Blessing/Chaos Power? Anyways, looks good upped, not really useful unupped. Pricing looks about right, too.

I dont think theres a way to keep track of which creatures had blessings etc put on them, so tentatively thats a no

and youre probably right on the unupped being useless... could make it beneficial only as well, but either reduce its stats/cost or boost the upp'd stats

Yeah, the bad things you mentioned - poison, gravity pull, aflatoxin - are effects that kill creatures. So when something dies of them, Harlequin simply acquires them and dies itself. I'd probably go with a price increase for the unupped version to 5 :death, unless there's some way to balancedly better the upped version.

Also, the beneficial status effects aren't really statuses, more like abilities or characteristics. I think of status effects to mean frozen, delayed, or poisoned. But maybe airborne, devourer, and venomous could be added to the list?

I suggest to increase the stats of the harlequin because it may get negative effects, but may also get positive effects, canceling each other out.

i think i can make it any ability that isnt clicked to activate and any status effect.  and since its going to be beneficial effects only, no need to concern yourselves with frozen/delayed anymore.

Yes, but how will each passive skill be recorded? Well, first...

1. Will DJ gain passive skills not under the creature when played? (Devourer's devourer, voodoo doll's voodoo, etc.)
2. If no, then the space under DJ should be reserved for the skills gained. If so, than will each no skill replace the old one?
3. If yes, then will DJ's Death Mask skill be a passive skill not shown under it?

Conclusion: There is either a problem because all the skills gained can't be recorded, or it's okay because each skill is replaced by the new one.

I guess actually there is a way to record everything...
Since it's known the original state of the creature, I wonder what'd happen with mutations :-\
I don't know if it also takes the active skills, but with the passives you should say if they are cummulative or replaced when the next creature dies
