I think this spell could also be a Lich' ability.

I know the upped has more potential, but it's very situational, and not worth the cost upgrade.
It is the greatest mystery of all...

Hmm....

Step 1: Play 1 mummy (5 attack)
Step 2: Have 6 lightnings stength CC cards

But that's okay. That's a really interesting way to add stronger CC to death's arsenal, and I like that. The problem is that after playing TWO mummies...You have a 10 damage lightning bolt, essentially. How many creatures have over 10HP? Not many.

I feel like a limitation of some kind should be put on this. Maybe in order to cast Command the Undead, you must have at least 1 undead creature on the field, and THEN the card deals 5 damage to the target?

I also don't really care for the upgraded version as it is now, but that's just me.

EDIT: Technically, mummies do not have the "Undead" passive; they have the "Mummy" passive. Should this mean that only skeletons are included in this card's effect?

I see how this can be used, but his only affects two cards.  Skeletons and, as your NOTES say, Mummies.  I don't quite like the idea of it having such a limited range.

This is Death, so it controls corresponding creatures -- Skeletons and Mummies. This is intended to be a countercreature tool.

But that's okay. That's a really interesting way to add stronger CC to death's arsenal, and I like that. The problem is that after playing TWO mummies...You have a 10 damage lightning bolt, essentially. How many creatures have over 10HP? Not many.

Dragon + Gravity Pull is a -10HP weapon :)

I see it like this: you cast some skeletons or use a Boneyard, then when your enemy attacks you with a dragon -- you command your undeads to attack that dragon. After they're done, they return to attacking enemy player.

I want it to be thematic, and the Death's theme is controlling undead, not everything.

Understandable, but a restricted range doesn't play very well in Elements.  If anything, card ideas should be versatile in what affects it and how it affects others.

Restrictions is what makes the game interesting :) Actually, it will make quite a difference because at the moment Death is virtually defenseless against creatures.

If someone attacks me with, say, a Pharaoh and starts spawning Scarabs, my Plague or Retrovirus takes too long to take that Pharaoh down. A couple of Lightnings does this job perfectly.

Now imagine that I have a couple of skeletons and command them to kill that dangerous creature. 2 turns -- problem solved!

Also, the upgraded version will be useful if opponent has his own skeletons. Turning them against him is a double benefit: they stop harming you and begin harmong him. Doing that with powerful creatures, such as dragons, would be way overpowered.

But situational.

While it would be nice to see a little specialization in some cards, it must be considered that only so many get integrated into the game, so one has to try to make most ideas count.  Well, that's how I feel.

I believe cards should be less universal, so players would have to carefully compose their decks.
