Doppelganger: tight.

Soulbinder: PU but slower and with a chance to get killed before you can use it's ability.

If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

I put both concepts in there so I could get feedback.  Should I just scrap the PU-like concept and make the upped just a more efficient doppel?  Or tweak the Soulbinder somehow?

It does of course still bring PU to dark-mono.  Not that we want more role-blurring... :D

In my opinion, Soulbinder should have the ability to unshift too...
In case the opponent summons a better creature...
Too bad it can't be a passive...

The "unshift" ability is also useful for restoring this creature back to health, and the raw card has high health so it can be resilient between shifts.  If you copy something like a Ruby Dragon, you're opening yourself up much more to CC.  Talking out loud here, I bet you all are miles ahead of me on the strategy for this card!

Definitely considering making the Soulbinder just a better Doppelganger now, two people have said it's a good idea.  The upped version being a true PU really makes it less viable for mono- :darkness anyway... anyone else want to see Soulbinder stay before I axe it?

you could make it so that Soulbinder has Unshift as passive and when it copies it makes a copy of the creature as well. so like

Soulbinder
copy target creatures attack, defense, and ability. also create a copy of target creature on your side of the field.
Passive: Unshift.

Notes: Unshift causes Doppelganger/Soulbinder to revert back to original form at the begging of the 2 turn

Nah, that's like a Firefly Queen with PU as a no-cost ability.  While I'd like to see it in action, I'd hate to fight it with almost any deck!

Soulbinder eliminated.  New upgrade boosts health by 2 and reduces cost by 1.

Seem too cheap for a creature version of P. Universe.
And why does it need 12HP?
Also revert just seem like a easy way of self healing, as you can easily shapeshift back to that creature again.

Would maybe suggest....

Doppelganger (unupped)
:darkness
1/3
Copy the ATK and half of HP of the target creature.  (but not its ability)

It's not a PU.  For one thing, it's far less flexible - yes, it copies attack, but it also ignores all effects like momentum, adrenaline, creature abilities, etc. that make PU so potent.  The 12 health is a way to make this thing hard to kill UNSHIFTED.  But there are many other sources of CC besides direct damage - lobo, mutation, rewind, damage this when it's shifted to something fragile, etc.

And you're right, reversion is a cheap self-heal, that's intended.  However, the limiting factor is intended to be availability of enemy creatures... for which reason I'll consider disallowing targeting of your own creatures.  That would be a cheap way to get a swarm of Black Dragons out.

Did fix the name, thanks Kael.

14 HP? What? Doppelgangers really don't fit the super-tank bill as I see it. They work better as small, amorphous creatures that rely on stealth, which works with Darkness. If anything, it should be easy to kill in order to balance it, since you can easily copy a strong creature. Other than that, neat idea and perfect art.
