AffinityIdea by:
ji412joWill you keep diversified decks, or are you going to build up your affinity to an element?
1. HOW TO SIGN UP?Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.
2. GETTING READYForming TeamsWhen you sign up, try and find yourself a buddy. If you're a reject and have no friends, we will find you one. The game will be played in teams of two (2)
Each round, two teams will be not-so-randomly(*) matched together, making teams of 4 for each round.
(*) how teams will be made will be explained later.
3. GAME PLAYHere I explain Affinities. If you use a deck that uses at least 10 cards of an element, you gain 3 upgrades to that element for the next games. If you play a game with less than 10 cards of an element you currently have an affinity with, you lose 2 upgrades on it. If you play a game with at least 10 cards of an element, you lose ALL upgrades you currently have of the opposite element.
But here is where this gets tougher : when you gain or lose upgrades, you do it for the team. And not only the team of 2, but the team of 4. So say you currently have 30 darkness upgrades, if the team that is matched with you think you are becoming too strong, they can play a light deck and bye bye, or they can try to help you out, and both teams could become stronger.
4. DECKBUILDING & PairingsEach round, each team sends the organizer 3 teams they would like to be paired with. But be cautious, because those teams could also pretty well be put AGAINST you. So choosing the top teams is not always the best idea. The organizer will make it so that same teams cannot be paired together twice in a row, but they can be together more times during the event.
MAtches are best of 3.
Say team 1 and team 2 face team 3 and team 4, matches will simply be player 1 from team 1 vs player one from team 3, player 2 from team 1 vs player 2 from team 3, and same for the other teams.
Say it would end even, then the team with the most single matches won, gets the win ( so it is much better to lsoe 1-2 than 0-2 in case of a tie)
If it is still even, sudden death, a last game is played.
A team that has lost 3 rounds is eliminated.
When only 3 teams are left, rules change.
Your current affininities become permanent, which means you cannot gain or lose any more upgrades.
If you have 5 or more upgrades in an element, you cannot use more than 3 cards of it's opposite element in any deck.
You also happen to Lose your teammate. All 6 players will be seperated into two groups of round robin in such way that you are not in the group of your teammate, where only the winner of the group reaches the finals.
5. AFTER DUELSAll players must submit their results and decks in the Round Thread.
6. WINNERThe final player remaining is declared the victor.
7. REWARDSGlory and a forum award icon to be decided.
