NOTES:
1) The "source of the damage" refers to the player who cast the damaging spell or the creature that activated the damaging ability.  Yes, that means that if you want to kill your own creature after your opponent cast Antimatter on it, you're going to take a hit in the process.

- 1a) If the source of the damage is a weapon in the weapon slot (e.g. Owl's Eye), then the damage returned is applied against the HP the weapon would have if it were flying.  In the case of Owl's Eye, it has 7HP when flying.  It deals 3HP to a creature, so Witch's Bottle would return 6HP damage to it.  Since there's no way to heal a weapon while it's in the weapon slot, it could do this twice before being destroyed.  If Flying Weapon is applied to Owl's Eye after one such incident, it will fly with 1HP remaining.
Question for those in the know about coding:  Is this possible?  If not, what modifications should I make?

2) The "amount of damage dealt" refers to the total damage created by the effect, regardless of the HP of the target creature.  If you use Lightning to kill a Skeleton, you're going to take 10 damage, not 2.

- 2a) If the source of the damage is a direct kill effect (e.g. Maxwell's Demon or Otyugh), then the amount of damage dealt = the HP of the target creature at the moment of death.

3) Witch's Bottle is Lobotomizable.

Lore:
A witch's bottle, or witch bottle, is a traditional method of protecting a person from evil or evil spirits, dating back to the 17th century in England, if not earlier.  A person desiring protection put parts of her/himself into the bottle--usually hair, nail clippings, or, most often, urine.  The individual then buried the bottle in a safe location, usually a corner of his or her home.
Although most commonly used to protect a building, such as the house where the protected person lived, a witch's bottle also could be used to protect the individual directly.  In these cases, the nature of the protection was to send any evil back to its sender, so that the sender actually ending up harming her/himself more than the intended recipient.

I love the flavor of this card.  I think it wins there.  On the power I'm just not sure I'd ever use it.  It's rather situational, in that it demands your opponent deal damage to one of your creatures.  You'd face quite a few decks where your opponent has neither creatures nor spells that do damage to creatures making this a dead draw.  And when you take away the gravity pull combo it's hard to use it as creature control.

I'd suggest making it a permanent instead.  One that grants all your creatures this protection.  It would still be situational that way, but, the payoff might be high enough to suffer the dead draws against a fair amount of decks.

(obviously it's a hard card to balance, too strong in some cases, too weak in others)

Do you think I should add GP back in? How would I balance it if I did?

A permanent, huh? Takes away the thematic of protecting an individual, but does make it more useful. Cost would have to be much higher, though.

I'm out of the house today. Unless I leave here early, I can't change the card, anyway. Sort of a moot point.
