Mentor program redux: who are interested? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=45100.msg1021905#msg1021905
« on: December 13, 2012, 10:05:59 am »
I'm testing the water again for mentor program, after tutoring some more newer players. I myself will still continue serving as "official unofficial newbie helper", but i think it's nice if there are many people interested. So:
1. Who are interested in tutoring people?
2. Who are interested in learning from mentors?

Note the word "interested". I'll try to make the basic outline for the program if there are many people interested.
Discuss.

I'm not a master of this game but i've been playing for a while and I think i would be able to teach new beginners. Any chance i could be a mentor?
I play games, not girls.

I'd love to learn more, though I feel like I've learned all I can and I'm at a point where I just need to learn to be better at PvP. And I feel like that's something gained with experience. I could also teach newbies the basics, but I feel there would be others better suited for that.

Ideally (for me at least), I'd like to see groups of newbs divided into "classes", each class having a "teacher", and fellow "students" being able to help each other learn in addition to the "teachers" instructions. In a scenario like that, I'd be able to both learn from the best and aid in teaching when the mentor isn't available.

I know a decent amount about aether, but I think I have a lot to learn about the other elements. I wouldn't mind having someone mentor me.

Since we have a big number of threads dedicated to almost any question a noob could ask, i propose to carry out this initiative on the chat.
Every mentor will make a thread explaining he is the mentor of water rather than aether and so on.
In his thread he specify its class schedules, basically when he is at the class disposal in chat.
This could help to have a more direct Q/A between the mentor and the noob, just my 2 cents.

One possibility could be that the masters of each element would dedicate themselves to the mentor program, teaching classes specific to their element. After all, a master should be the best of the best in his/her field, no? It would also give more purpose to the master title.

bripod and I are already working on this; for quite a while, in fact. When it goes public, you will be surprised (in a good way, I hope) :)
