At first, this looks like a bad version of mitosis. But wait- this thing is one hell of a quanta drain if used on the right opponent creature.
If the quanta cost cannot be paid, then the creature dies instead. The effect is a mitosis-like one rather than a TU-like one.

And yes, I'm planning a denial series.

I like cards with pros and cons. The real question is, "Is this card balanced correctly?"

If we assume that the new copies do not have infest, and this card has a 1 :underworld upkeep, you basically have a 2 card + 5 :death combo for free TUs per turn.

An upkeep of 1 :underworld per turn is equivalent to 1 card.

1 card + 5 :death + 1 :underworld upkeep is equivalent to 2 cards + 5 :death. 2 cards + 5 :death for one TU per turn is OP.

Death (one of best elements rushing) with mitosis... and also triggers death effect to bone walls.

The upkeep is that of the cost of the targeted creature per turn, if that wasn't clear. So said combo would also drain 10 :death per turn. Not OP.

I have misread your description. Perhaps you should clarify in the OP.

At a glance, this seems to be worse than mitosis, being 1 :underworld more and forcing a mitosis per turn, but on the other hand, it can be used as CC. I recommend play testing with this plus flesh reculses to see the balance of this being used as pure offense.
