Drake_XIV
NOTES:
Chameleons do seem to be overdone to some extent, but I haven't quite seen this effect yet.

The creatures that count towards benefiting the effect are the ones that flank the immediate left and right of the Chameleon(s).  This requires at least 4 creatures on the field.

Still affected by mass CC and shields.

And before anyone can say anything about how situational it is, I see it is as in its own niche of sorts.  One, besides dragons, Life does not have that many heavy hitters.  Two, the upgraded version is great for Fractal purposes.  And before anyone can claim it is too situational, it's just as situational as flooding, but I'm bound to get a lot of grief for that.

Still debating whether Camouflage should be active or passive.  If it's passive, it can be influence by Luciferin, making a much more CC resistant Hope variant.  Then again, it can be argued that it's too slow considering the amount of cards and quanta needed.

Since the ability is quite situational if not used properly you could lower the cost of the unupped by 1

Not so sure on that one... it would be a bit tricky to pull off since the chameleons will become untargetable when they get played between existing ones. Mitosis doesn't put any buffs on daughter cells as far as I know... I think you would only get every other one in the central row and very few on top and bottom because they would fill in after the central row and thus become automatically untargetable except for corners.
Vulnerability to mass CC an shields would keep them in line at any rate (skull shield, fire buckler, thorns shield and plague would all still be brutal)

actually its a very, very easy combo to pull off.  just have to put down a few and use the adrenaline before the adjacent slots are filled, play 1-2-3, adrenaline 1 and put mitosis on them (if you have them), play 4-5, put adreanline and/or mitosis on 2  (if you haven't already, itll become untargetable soon), play 6, put adrenaline and/or mitosis on 3  (if you haven't already, itll become untargetable soon), play 7, put adrenaline and/or mitosis on 7  (if you have them), and then every other chameleon played (except 11 and 12) will already be adjacent to 2 other creatures. 

and only the edge creatures (not adjacent to 2 other chameleons) will be affected by cc, fire shield not withstanding.

Ah, I just saw it. I missed that only left and right slots count...From what I can tell by the diagram, there will be 2 in the middle row and 6 in the top and bottom rows that will be unadrenalinable.
15 / 23 is still pretty good though I guess.
As long as mass cc and shields can affect them (as is stated in the notes) it shouldn't be too OP. Plague, thornshield, and fire shield will eat them very quickly with adrenaline up. Flooding will be very useful too.
Lastly, as you noted, the edge ones will be vulnerable so a player can always chew their way in.
I would say they should be given a little lower hp though. The upped should maybe be lowered to 2. The unupped should probably be 3 as or 4 at most. This is because mass CC won't do more than 3 damage a shot at maximum (except pandemonium, but that is not guaranteed). This is the best way to keep it from getting OP with combos like the one above.

as far as the notes specifying that they can be effected by mass cc, that wont work. if something is not targetable, it can't be effected by firestorm or etc, i had that explained to me a while ago when i was making warplings.

Would it work if I made it invisible to both players?

Also, doing so would interfere with having a Mitosis/Butterfly Effect Chameleon in the middle of a group, so I'm a bit hesitant with that...
