While it comes into play as Photon/RoL respectively, it is does not gain their stats nor abilities.

So, yes to the stats, no to the bioluminescence..

I don't like that cost range you have there. The unupped can be compared to an upped charger, which costs 5 ; the upped can be compared to Graviton mercenary, which costs 4 - both of these cards have the same stats as yours, respectively. Plus, the ability of illusion in my opinion is worth only 1 or 2 quanta, so I'd settle for 6-7 unupped and 3-5 upped

Wouldn't the opponent know when your photon/rol isn't generating light and dealing more damage than it is supposed to? Really don't see the point of the illusion ability since most people would know about it unless they were really absent minded. Basically you've just created a very powerful vanilla attacker.

I know no one really wants to, but consider PvE.  The AI wouldn't recognize the difference.

So it's basically a pretty strong card that is also anti-AI. Aether really doesn't need this, since aether is all about expensive, bulky, protected, but not very efficient attackers.

Not really. While it is cheaper, it's way less efficient. Phase spiders and recluses give you a 1.3 and 1.75 attack per quanta ratio. Nimble chameleon is only 3/2. It might be better if used in mono aether fractal, but who honestly goes mono aether fractal? And even if a recluse is twice the cost of a nimble chameleon, it also has more than twice its attack.
