Mulligan's Nightmare (Ai3 EM) https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=31407.msg397372#msg397372
« on: September 22, 2011, 04:54:35 pm »
This deck was built to use Mulligans law to abuse Nightmare + RoL + Solar Buckler to rush Ai3. As it turns out, its not that fast however it is an effective EM deck so far, more than making up for the slightly above par speed.

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jq 7jq 7jq 7jq 7jq 7jq 7jt 7jt 7jt 7jt 7jv 7jv 7jv 7jv 7jv 7jv 7k1 7k1 7th 7th 7th 7th 7th 7th 8pt

Strategy:
1) Play out any RoL as fast as possible
2) Nightmare as soon as you can, aim for maybe 3 or more spaces in opponent hand however if you have multiple it doesnt matter too much.
3) Get solar buckler up quickly, preferably on the turn you nightmare but 1 or 2 turns late still works.
4) Play the rest of your cards in order: Improved Blessing, Morning Glory, Light Dragon
5) Use nightmare to EM where possible.

NB: So far this deck has taken very little damage, the most being an Owl Eye + FFQ due to its reasonable speed + Nightmares stalling draws so it may not be highly effective in the long run.

Stats:
Wins: 7
Losses: 0
Win%: 100
EM: 4
EM%: 67

TTW Average: 8.1
TTW Average w/EM: 5.2
TTW:
7 - 2
8 - 3
9 - 1
10 - 1

This is quite a different deck but its a duo and uses dark(nightmare to some extent) so Im just tagging it to this.

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]

Adrenalined Pests take 2 quanta/turn and do 8 damage (once eclipse is out), 1 darkness pend allows for a turn 3 adrenad pest. After the pests start getting out its just a matter of using nightmare to either em (if vamps cant) or to stall draws early on to stop them using quanta so you can have it then using vamps + eclipse to kill. Its not fast but it is efficient and I intend to play 50 games with both of these decks but due to limited time currently these are stats so far:

Stats:
Wins: 4
Losses: 0
Win%: 100
EMs: 4
EM%: 100

TTW Average: 8.25
TTW Average w/EM: 4.125
TTW:
7 - 1
8 - 1
9 - 2

I believe mulligans law prevents a starting hand without any 0 cost cards. Thats why its called mulligans nightmare.

It doesn't prevent it, but if your hand has no 0 cost cards, it redraws your hand (you don't see this happen, which is why most people think there is no mulligan rule)  However, it only does this one time, so if the new hand also has no 0 cost cards, you have to keep it.  I've had this happen on occasion.

6 cards are sufficient to get a usable starting hand. Some 30 card decks even go as low as 5 or 4 0-cost cards, but 4 is a gamble.

Humm I'm not in favour of that O_O the drawing part of the game must be RANDOM from the beginning to the end...

Could you please explain what "mulligan" is, or post a link to it please?

Dunno where the link is, but a mulligan works like this:

Step 1: Draw 7 cards from your deck
Step 2: Elements checks if your hand has any 0 cost cards.  (pillars/pendulums, novas, photons, etc)
Step 3: If you do have at least one 0 cost card, the game starts. (skip step 4 and 5)
Step 4: If you do not have any 0 cost cards, then the game shuffles your hand back into your deck and draws another new 7 card hand.  (you have no way of knowing if this happened or not, unless it happens a second time; see step 5)
Step 5: Start the game, even if your hand has zero 0 cost cards again.

Essentially, you get one extra chance to draw a 0 cost card. If this redraw is used then whatever the redraw deals you is your starting hand. considering you have 6 cards in 30 and get 2 chances to draw 1 failing is reasonably rare, if you do get 0 RoLs then because of the ttw Id say just auto quit and restart, a rough ttw of 4.125 makes this deck rapid enough to take the odd loss due to a failed draw.

To make it faster Im considering swapping 4-6 of the dragons for archangels, this also makes it slightly cc proof thanks to healing as if you are slow to get out damage something such as owl eye cant slowly kill off what you can play. The one down side is the  :air/ :life deck which can use your RoLs to create a Hope/Emphatic Bond combo, this was the reason for the 10 ttw game, if not for the 6 defence hope Id have been done in about 7 Id say.

I just saw this again because of the engineers, and I realize it's the same idea Vader Sayer uses, which is considerably more powerful.
