Karma system 2.0 installed!

KARMA 2.0

New features:

- To give Karma, you have to write an explanation why you gave that Karma. A short explanation is fine, for example: "Posted and awesome tutorial!", or "Was mean to a newbie"

- You can get a notification every time someone gives you Karma. Go to Profile -> Modify Profile -> Notifications.

- The word "Karma" now acts as a link to your Karma profile

- Admin can see "Karma Stats" which show all the relevant statistics (and Karma log) on who gave what Karma to who, where and when.


Remember you need at least 20 posts to be able to give Karma. Before that, Karma buttons are invisible to you.

just food for thought. On another forum it´s called spek and you can hand out a certain amount of them every 24 houers. How many is coupled with your posts and amount of (positive karma you have.

We could have something like that as well. There is a plugin that does exactly that but there are some compatibility issues so I will not install it just yet. I'll probably install it at some point in the future.

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong thread, but I can't seem to be able to find the button to add or subtract karma from others in the space below a person's avatar -- I can view their current karma count there, though.

Is there a minimum number of posts that I need to have to activate this feature, or am I simply not looking in the right place for the add/subtract karma buttons?

We need to actually give a reason why we are giving them karma? That's lame, and unnecessary in my opinion. I honestly don't care about karma anyway, but I do give it every now and then. This just makes it stupid and a chore.

However, I have to admit that the other aspects I do find good. Just as long as everything doesn't eventually require us to do "blah blah blah" just to do stuff we already enjoy or something.

If you feel like everyone is your friend and give them karma because they are just that good, then yes (or something like that). Most systems that I've seen are just people have a =/--- and a total. Nobody gets to see who gave them what (except mods). There is usually a post limit for before you can give/take. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Depends on how much the forumers hate/like each other.

Giving a reason sounds stupid mostly because nobody is going to take the time to read all of it. Anyway, other than the reason "why not?" why did you have that put in again?

But whatever, I probably won't give/take much anyway, I just like to argue.
