Song of the Elders

Music Making Competition

Rules of the competition:
1.  Create a small song that can be used as the music that plays whenever one duels an Elder (AI3).
2.  The song must be twenty (20) to thirty (30) seconds long and must be able to loop.  No vocals can be put into the song.

4.  All work must be made by yourself (no picking some random song off of the web).

What does made by yourself mean... ? What is the limit to how much you can depend on something? Can you use samples?

Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is likely the best free program to edit audio with.  You could get fancy and use something like FL Studio, but that isn't available to the masses.

"Made by yourself" is put in there just so people don't take random techno off of the internet and submit it.
There are a ton of free sound sites on the internet, even piano or guitar sound bites if you need them.  The composition must be your own though.
Samples being pre-made music that you can download, edit a little, and submit?  No.

If you want something that you can create sound with, then you may either record an instrument you can play or you can, again, use sound bites available on the internet.  For example, google "Online piano player," use it while recording the sound, and edit to your liking.

well FL studio has a free demo the last I checked, all you can't do is load a file, so you can still convert the file you make into an .mp3, you just have to write it all in one session.

rosegarden musE and linux multimedia studio are all free and got copyright free samples

I understand what you mean about the samples and loops provided by most free sequencers, but for the sake of this competition, I would hope that nobody would submit a bunch of loops mashed together, regardless of how good the result is.
