CARD DETAILS:
  • Airborne.

  • "Invisible" has a similar effect to Cloak (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17613.0.html). The enemy may not see the creature, however it is not covered by a black "blanket" as implemented in 1.27. It simply vanishes and blends in with its background.

  • Airbend lasts for 2 of your turns. That is to say, upon ending your phase of the turn you use :air :air Airbend on a creature, one turn has passed. After you end your next turn, the creature is revealed unless the invisibility was at any point renewed.

  • Enemy creatures may also be targeted by Airbend, and thus become invisible to the enemy. While invisible, the enemy, or AI may not target their creature or activate the "clickable" skills of the creature.

  • Creatures invisible to the enemy will be given this symbol: .

  • AoE spells which target Sylph automatically remove its invisibility.


R A R E
I submitted it to Zblader's "Card Designer Challenge: Your Own Rare?" and created 2 neat decks for it to fit in nicely too!! Check it out HERE (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,21688.msg296661#msg296661) and post here how well you think Sylph could be integrated into the game. ^_^Air is not known for being an element whose creatures have a solid amount of HP. They do however have strong skills and good attack power. The inability for an enemy to target Air creatures compliments the element appropriately and works with Fog Shield's theme. This would make it a good Rare card for :air Air because although the element does not --need-- this card to make good decks, this card compliments various of its decks.

You may obtain it through all AIs and through the Oracle with varying probability. You may not obtain it from the Bazaar.

To the best of my knowledge, thus far only :time Time and :water Water have rare creatures and I'm a firm believer of allowing all the elements to have their own illusive creature.

Sylph is a strong mythological creature which doesn't show it in its attack strength. Its magical abilities protect its allies and at the same time itself.

Because of this and because Sylph should simply be a staple creature of :air Air I decided to make it Rare.

I have been summoned for a difficult request. I can barely judge invisibility or phasing. Judging both at once is harder. Judging airbending instead of phasing is even harder. Please take my formula below at my normal credibility but my estimations for X and Y are poorer guesswork.

Balancewise:

2|2 stats are worth 2
3|3 stats are worth 3
Airbend is worth X
Immateriality would be worth +(2|3+X)/2
Invisibly would be worth +(2|3+X)/2Y
Total (2|3+X)(1+1/2Y) (-1.5 upgraded. due to hp increase probably favor -1 upgrade to -2 upgrade.)

If X=1 and Y=2
Total (3|4)(1.25)=3.75|5-1.5(upgrade cost reduction)
Casting cost of 4 :air|4 :air assuming X,Y = 1,2

Seems like a nice idea and well executed.

I had been referring to casting cost (aka playing cost).

Well if you decide to increase the activation cost instead of casting cost then an activation cost of  :air :air| :air :air :air :air would achieve the same result yes. But this skill is meant to be used repetitively and speed is not that big of an issue for it (similar to speed is not a big concern of Anubis). I think the more appropriate change would be to adjust the casting cost rather then adjust the activation cost.

Remember I am more confindent saying it should have a casting cost of
(2|3+X)(1+1/2Y) :air|(2|3+X)(1+1/2Y) -1.5 :air
which based on my less confident estimations leads to a playing or casting cost of 4 :air|4 :air.

Starting invisible is very valuable to this card because that gives it an advantage over Anubis that it needs due to the inferiority of invisibility to immateriality.

Card update to reflect balancing advice.
  • Health changed from 2 | 3 to 1 | 1 for intentional fragility against AoE spells.
  • Playing Cost boosted from 3 :air | 2 :air up to 4 :air | 4 :air.
  • Airbend cost changed from 1 :air | 1 :air to 2 :air | 2 :air.
All changes made to make Sylph underpowered-balanced.

Strange, now sylphs can only be seen in pandemonium. The rest of the time it vanishes as it becomes visible.

I personally think the  decrease in hp[perhaps 1|2 hp instead?] (although funny) and increase in activation cost would make this end up below the curve by 1 :air casting cost. However that insures that if my estimates are wrong that it likely remains up or balanced.
