Immortality removal has been suggested time and time again.
Naturally Immaterial creatures have to pay an ~50% quanta increase in casting cost.
Quinted and Immortalized Creatures have to pay similar.
Why would mass removal of Immortality have a relatively low cost? (Firestorm has a large multiplier over a single target spell)

Good point about the situational nature.

i had this though at the back of my mind for a long time, i was even thinking of a creature with the ability to remove immortality of another creature but then i thought it was too situational for such a creature.
though i agree on the situational part of this, pretty good idea but since "Immaterial" is mostly the property of  :light and  :aether, why would they themselves remove their own immortality? i reckon the element of the card should be changed, perhaps  :gravity? or  :death?
i dont know but thats how i see it, otherwise the player is forced to use the very same element to mortalize something of the same element once again.

I did a card similar to this one but in death. (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/%20http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,18972.0.html)
I think the cost of yours is fine but I dont know if I whould use it being  :aether really  darkness or death make more sense to me.
also give me an idea of what you want and ill do the art for you.

A rift of some kind would do nicely.

Probably need to cost 12 :aether plus absorbing all the remaining quanta.

Try this:

The red ring repsents the "rift" in a sense, which supposedly leads to a blue sky (indicating the different dimension, and I'm assuming that the sky is blue in elements).  The yellow dots are sort of representing shattered immortality, since immaterial is represented by the  :time mark.

if aether can give immortality it should be able to take it away. that's why it should be and stay aether
