Multilingual section improvements https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=17232.msg219436#msg219436

After I received some questions from my compatriots (I'm italian), I've asked an opinion to ScaredGirl, and she suggested to post it here.

My idea is an improvement of multilingual section, with the creation of 1-2 subsections (for example Decks, FGs, etc...), for a better help to all people who don't speak english well (like...me  :-\)

I'm not planning to change the forum radically, it's only a little addition...

We can also set up a "subsection moderator" which will have the task of keeping order in the section.

Thanks for your attention, waiting for comments...

I think there are two ways of doing this.

1. Having sections based on category (FG's, Decks, etc.), and have one topic for each language.
2. Having sections based on language, and have all the members of that language post their stuff there.

I personally think that the latter is better.

First option will modify this forum too much, and IMO, elements forum's workin' so great that's crazy to think to change it so radically.

The second one is easy and fast to realize (just add new categories) and will not modify "forum's nature", in fact new sections will be only a "plus".

After all, new sections will ensure that people remain on this official board, without creating other unofficial boards in other languages...

If we are considering this, I believe the 2nd option would be the best. However, I feel that we need to put more thoughts on this because:
  • Just how many sections will be made? There are thousands of languages, so are we creating at least hundreds of new sections just for this?
  • There are already few topics and/or posts existed in the multilingual section that I feel created just for spam, so wouldn't it make the mods job harder in this section?
With that, I suggest to leave the multilingual section as it is. I would also like to propose to make it compulsory to add the language which being used in the title of that topic (in English word). So, if there's a need to create two or more topics for a certain language, we would have something like:

   (Japanese) - こんにちは
   (Japanese) - ヘルプ

p/s: Sorry, if I've offended any Japanese people. I don't know any Japanese, just using Google translator.  :P

This idea came to me because of an international forum devoted to elements, that was advertised here briefly.
It seemed quite dead when I checked it yesterday, but I recognised some names from this forum.
The point to me seemed that at its peak time, it was a quite respectable and organised forum, with it's own tourneys.

It will probably take a while for any forum made here to get the that level (the tourneys would not be needed- or particularly wanted), because not everyone finds the multilingual section, but it should keep people for longer.
The advantage we have here is that we are the official forums of elements, not just something made for fans. So we have access to things other forums wouldn't.
I don't think all languages particularly need one instantly, it would be a bit of a slow starter (like anything really), so we would want to start with languages that have a couple of people who use it quite regularly first, if at all.
