NAME:
Shard
ELEMENT:
Other
COST:
1
TYPE:
Spell
ATK|HP:
ABILITY:
It looks like a crystal shard. It seems to be useless, but it might be upgradable.
NAME:
Shard of Generosity
ELEMENT:
Other
COST:
3
TYPE:
Spell
ATK|HP:
ABILITY:
The passive effect of target permanent now applies to both players.
ART:
Creator of Shard artwork
IDEA:
Snowballfr (with the help of smuglapse)
NOTES:
A buff will have to be created for it (see PA). If the card is stolen, the buff stays on.
Applies to pillar/tower/pendulum stacks. After use, a new pillar/tower/pendulum will start a new stack.
Applies to weapons or shields also. If the weapon is animated, the buff stays on.
The effective result for the opponent is calculated with the stats of the actual owner of the permanent (see e.g. Fahrenheit or Bond).
Does not work with active effects (costing quanta) and is therefore useless with hourglasses, pulvi, etc ...
I can't wait to see someone destroying its own permanent because he/she does not want to be generous.

Do this work on Pillars? If yes, this card CAN be OP, because, for example we only have 1 pillar, and enemy has the same pillar we need, we could just cast it and Voila! We gain additional Quanta every turn...

Sorry for bad English....

That's why I add this: Applies to pillar/tower/pendulum stacks. After use, a new pillar/tower/pendulum will start a new stack.
Contrary to PA the pillar/tower/pendulum added after buff won't go to the original pile/stack but in a new one.
Then it's a bit better than steal in that it could give you more quanta ... but a bit less good because your opponent still have the benefit of his pillar(s).
I though it would be a nice twist in the permanent control mechanics.

Sorry for bad English too (you're French, aren't you?).

CURATOR COMMENT
To get this card approved for the competition:
-Fix the discrepancy between the non-upped card text and the Ability description in the table (replace the word 'may' in your table with the word 'might' to have the Ability description match the card image)

That said, I have a question regarding this quote: "Applies to weapons or shields also." I can understand the shields part (reducing damage by 1-3 or causing poison/freeze/time delay, etc.), but for weapons, are you implying that the opponent with the Shard-affected weapon will also receive damage from their own weapon (as a passive effect) alongside any effects if it's passive (Venom, Scramble, Life stealing [lol @ the Vampire Dagger being completely negated, as it takes and gives your health back XD], etc.)?

Shard of Gratitude would be very sad if this card was implemented though...

That's the idea, yes! For the SoG, I'd rather have it "gratified" than stolen.

For the weapon, yes, it is pretty twisted. The effect is "less painfull" than having it stolen in the sense that you still possess your weapon (for pulvi i.a. it means a lot). However, it is also more painful because your opponent can have the equivalent of 2 weapons.

I tried to find a new permanent control which would have a different behaviour than destroy or steal. In some cases it is better (shields, some weapons), in some cases it is less good (hourglasses, mindgates, eclipses, other weapons). What I particularly like in this idea is that you could seriously consider destroying your own weapon/shield/pillar/etc ...

P.S.: discrepancy fixed

This Card is Crucible Approved for the Shard Madness! Competition.
Edits of this card after this post may Void Approval.

I see - so if the opponent has more permanents with 'active' abilities (Eternity, Trident, Sundial, etc.), then these cards are really just filler in your deck, compared to downright stealing/destruction of the permanent in question.

...this sounds like this mechanic could actually belong to an element as a form of 'soft' permanent control (Similar to how voodoo dolls disables your weapon when frozen or delayed)...

Yes, I thought a "soft permanent control" could be given to every element as thanks to SoG healing is not any more reserved to life, light, earth and water.

P.S. : I am really happy to have my first Crucible Approved Card. Many thanks!
