Participants square off in one-on-one combat to determine who is the champion duelist.

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

There is no maximum amount of participants in this event.

2. GETTING READY
Participants will be randomly placed into World Cup style groups.
After the Group Round, players will be seeded based on their record and placed in a single-elimination bracket.

3. GAME PLAY
Both players battle each other. The winner keeps the exact same deck, the loser can change their deck and also ban a card that can't be used for the remainder of the match; Pillars and Pendulums can't be banned. (The winner's deck can contain this banned card - and they can play it for this game only, since they can't change their deck; the banned card also includes the upped version.)
4. MATCHES
A match is over when one player wins two games in a row.

- All Shards are banned.
- All decks start with 0 upped cards.
WINNER:
- Cannot change their deck.
LOSER:
- Choose a card to be banned for the rest of the match.
- Can change their deck.
- May use 3 more upped cards than their opponent.


It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.

5. AFTER MATCHES
All players must submit their results and decks in the Battle Results Section.
Winners of a match will receive 3 points.
If the match goes 10 games or more, the loser will receive 2 points.
If the match goes 5-9 games, the loser will receive 1 point.
If the match goes 0-4 games, the loser will receive 0 points.

6. WINNER
Whoever is last standing is the winner of the event.
The winner is also automatically qualified for the PvP World Championships - 2013.

7. REWARDS

Clarification on rules regarding upgraded cards please? The only rule mentioning ups as of this post is "Loser May use 3 more upped cards than their opponent."

Does this mean that you start with 0 upgraded cards allowed, and every loss = +3 more upgraded cards permitted? If my opponent has lost once (thus their upgraded card total is 3) and then I lose to them, do I receive +3 upgraded cards for the next match? Or do I receive +6, because I "may use 3 more upped cards than opponent"?

Overall, looks like a very straightforward, simple, yet interesting event. I'd love to take part, but between work, school, and the PvP's I'm already involved in... :/

Both players start with 0 upped cards, the loser can use 3 more than their opponent: so 3. If the match continues, then the player who lost the most recent match can use 3 more than their opponent: so 6.

When a player bans a card, is it banned for both players or just for the oponent?

The standard rule is 3 mins max, but most people won't stick to that. ... So, just don't take forever.

what if the opponent's deck contains the banned card(s)? does he have to switch it, or he simply cannot play it when drawn?
