We could do it like this:

1. No bonus if you have less than 50% of cards of your element
2. A bonus if you use 50%+ cards from your element (for example +1XP)
3. A big bonus if you use a mono deck of your element (for example +1XP and +1 Reputation)

This way you can play whatever you want, but will get something extra if you support your own element.
And that's why I want to play WoE, open-ended customization! :D
I would like to suggest something else in addition to this. It's a bit complicated, however so it might be something to look into for WoE 2.

So here's what I what I'm thinking:
If your element is in alliance with another and you use a duo between your element and the allied element, you get bonus reputation for the allied element if you win with that duo.

For example: If I am on team :earth and :earth is in alliance with :darkness, and I use a devourer-denial deck then (if I win) I gain +1 reputation with darkness as well as my home element.

This should probably be restricted to battles within the allied territory against non-allied players. For example: if I'm on team earth and I'm in darkness territory, who earth is allied with, and defeat an entropy player with an earth/darkness duo, I will gain +1 reputation for both along with the usual -reputation for entropy.

Wow, really like the idea...
SG, you may want to update the OP, adding the fact that marks depend on skill trees and that stuff.

I agree that we are elementals of whatever element we join, since we start with that mark, but we can learn to be elementals from other elements (why not?)... That's how the skill trees work. Obviously you would lose reputation/bonuses/etc., but you would be both a :fire elemental and a :life elemental, i.e. And you'll choose what powers to use before a fight. So it fits.

Apart from that, you'll be always restricted to choose other elements' cards, skills and/or marks, since you have to go to that elements' cities to learn them, so if you are in war with one element, you'll be unable to learn anything from them (unless you use that :darkness skill, cloak I think)

Any bonus, up to what I know, is yet to be decided, but I like the mechanics as they are right now :D

I guess you're talking about Timer's idea, don't you?

EDIT: I was just saying why I like things as they are now, and why they still fit with the elementals theme

lol yea I had a feeling it would be complicated, but why not just use the rules that we already classify decks with? i.e. ATM, a duo deck is classified as a deck using cards belonging from more than one elelment. If we just classify decks the way we already do in the deck sections, it would make such problems trivial.

The complicated part is keeping track of a whole swathe of extra reputation changes which are dependant on specific aspects of deckbuilding and location. It's hard enough keeping track of the reputation changes already; there's a lot of room for error here.
