Maybe an "Elemental incubator" could work as an item. A magical item that you put young creatures into, and one turn later you get an adult creature out of it.
May the force of the D4HK side be with U ^_^

Well, I'm just thinking that you can't breed two animals out in the wild, or if you do, you probably shouldn't expect the "little baby animal" to survive putting you to a lot of trouble. On the other hand, it would(in real life ;) ) take a good deal of time to breed animals, so if you'd rather have it take time instead, that would work.
Well, technically animals breed in the wild... You could make it take more time, as to be able to make it anyway.

BTW, I agree with making it cost time :D
Yeah...but you wouldn't need a breeding skill if you're just taking them out of the wild. Otherwise it would be a hunter's skill, or something like that :)

I would go with the most popular/best cards no matter how "vital" they are for that element. Reason for this is simple: supply and demand.

If something is great, people want it, and it becomes rare. If something sucks, people don't want it, and it becomes common.

If that's the case, then Toadfish should be the Rare card, not Mind Flayer.  Toadfish is a much more powerful and widely-used card.
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

It's true... Anyways, I guess this will be in development for a long time :P

Things changed a lot after that comment of mine. Rare cards are not the most vital cards anyone, instead they are most "special", with an ability cost from other element. While this doesn't make much sense in a supply and demand sense, it makes lots of sense when we look at the theme and how breeding would work.

Toadfish would have definitely been one option, but I guess I thought that Mind Flayer is more "special", because Toadfish does poison which is already :water 's thing.

Couldn't find whatever crazy font SG settled on for the word "Item."  :)  An incantation that fuses the essence of two creatures makes sense to me.

I like the idea of an Incubator being the breeding item.

That crazy font is actually the one used for the cost here: http://helltgivre.free.fr/elements/card_beta/ :)

Sounds good to me. Now we need ideas for art.

How about this thing that has 3 big glass containers that are connected by tubes or whatever. If put creatures to containers on the left and right, and then your new creatures is born in the container in the middle. Something like that.

Not a bad idea, but maybe a bit too "magical", you know? Something that would imply breeding more directly, would be a better choice imo.
