I went against what I originally said, and picked creatures that use a skill from different element. Idea was that what makes breeding unique is that it combines cards from two DIFFERENT elements.

Not sure if this new system will be final though. Some of those combos like :aether are really lame.

Maybe use a Spark and a Vampire for breeding a Phase Spider? I know they aren't match very well, but I think Vampire and Phase Spider have something common, but I can't really describe it.  8)

The idea is that the first card is the same element as the rare card, and the second card is the same element as the ability cost of the rare card.

Breeding is now the only type of crafting that uses only two cards. Anyone has any ideas on what kind of special item or card could be used in breeding? Kind of like Alchemy has the Empty Vial.

P.s. I hope this wasn't a mistake

I don't know if it needs a specific item, but it makes sense that you have to be in a city to do it. Actually, it would make more sense if you were on a farm, but....

I don't know.. you have two creatures and a seed. How does that work?

It doesn't have to be an item. If can be anything really. Anything with a cost, either directly like a card, or indirectly like time. The point is that it must somehow make the process more difficult or costly.

Having to be in a city could be one solution, although it might be kind of an inconvenient one.

Well, I'm just thinking that you can't breed two animals out in the wild, or if you do, you probably shouldn't expect the "little baby animal" to survive putting you to a lot of trouble. On the other hand, it would(in real life ;) ) take a good deal of time to breed animals, so if you'd rather have it take time instead, that would work.

Time to rip off ideas from pokémon again.
Day-Care center! you give some creatures to the day care people, wait 1 round. And viola! You have your creature!
The day care would be on a specific hex, and would proly have some sort of quest for it too, but those are just my tangent ideas. :P

Why not rip off YuGiOh instead and go with a Polymerization item you must use. It could be something like "DNA Splicing"

(Note, there isn't sarcasm or any negative connotations in this post. Just making this note so I don't accidentally offend anyone ^^;)

It is more a symbol. When two creature match the seed of life is growing up. (romantic, isn't it?) And I think the item have something in common with  :life and seeds fit very well.

Well, technically animals breed in the wild... You could make it take more time, as to be able to make it anyway.

BTW, I agree with making it cost time :D
