Thoughts on Round 1 Duels? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=24323.msg310600#msg310600

Not just our duels and decks but the results in general.

What worked?  What didn't?  Were there any surprise ideas or decks?

I didn't pick Earth and Aether to have such good results.  Aether also didn't burn too many cards on the Event Card option.

On the other end of the scale Gravity and Light had poor rounds.  Both burnt cards on the Altar too.

Good decks?

I liked this one from Death:

This from Darkness:

This from Time in a similar vein:

And two interesting decks from Fire and Light here:

Deck Thoughts?

I suspect we shall see more use of Discord fairly soon.  An early discord is still very OP.  Maybe some Sanctuary counters to consider depending on our match ups.  Immo-rush is still a pain in the rump and Reverse Time is going to be a feature of a lot of Darkness and Time decks.

Things worrying me?

Earth... some of those stall decks are looking tough.  Darkness, Aether and Death seem very organised and have some solid options in their deckbuilding.  Entropy and Fire will probably come out strong in the next round after having poor showings.

Things I am happy about?

Life and Gravity appear to be less organised and dangerous - despite Life having a surprisingly good round.  I hope we play them both in Round 2.  RNG cannot hurt us again as badly as they did this round.... it cannot...

It is too late to apologise.  I have already forgiven you.

Results: 3-5 is by far worse than what I really expected. It's my fault.

Earth: Those guys had a nice round, but in reality they have horrible salvages. It shrinks their vault possibilities.

Aether: This worries me enough. Why did they bring a such cheap deck against us?

Light/Gravity: Never get these two for dead.

Not spoilering because of blinding white backgrounds:

-- This is the greatest reason from team Death why we really have to fear them. Kevkev is an extremely good deckbuilder, and has a term of mastership behind him, not unlike xdude (and even icb?). I really doubt anyone expected a deck to face like this.

-- Although team Light did a very poor start here, this is also a sign not to be overlooked: this deck has extreme damage potential even without the upgrades. We still have to spare some attention for them.

-- This one's another we have to keep in mind, if we ever try to bring poison against aether: this one (and mostly it's modifications) destroyed Death last war many, many times..

All in all the current standings are mostly unexpected for me, much has changed in strategies since last war. We need to come up with something against immo decks..

It is here that strange compromises are made and new senses are born."
