USES: Chrysaoras are cheap and annoying creatures, who form one of the strongest synergies for Water. For a :death cost they inflict 1 poison damage each turn to your opponent.
When upgraded, Physalia gains an additional 2 attack for the same cost, which virtually triples its damage output, though it becomes vulnurable to shield effects.

Their constant barrage of poison damage really builds up fast, and their small costs lets you splash a full six of these guys easily.

I think the elite version actually harms the card's effect on a match, since it makes it able to take damage and be frozen by several types of shields. The 2 damage isn't going to make or break a game.

To the contrary. That 2 damage really does add up and make a difference. The only shields that affect it are turtle shells and fire bucklers, and neither of those are really used much. And they clear up bonewalls for your arsenic better.

Actually, Fire Bucklers and such may start being used more recently due to the Rainbow demination which reduces Bonewall/Dimshield usage, Adrenaline which reduces Bonewail usage, and due to the Immaterial shield effects update.

So what are these things actually? Do they have an origin in Dungeons&Dragons?

Nope, Chrysaora and Physalia are simply just scientific names for jellyfish.

It sounds a lot better than 'Jellyfish | Elite Jellyfish', no?
