Even at 9 discards, you would still be at the average per match.

For us, we had no elements specified, since our choices would be ignored. Our bye bid was 1 card, but I told deuce I was okay with him raising it to at most 10.

I had a feeling we might not get Air, just did not expect it like this.

Oh, the team I told deuce I expected to get the bye was Entropy.

Link's :air pick is pretty good, now there's the chance both :air & :aether discard 18, & setting up :aether :entropy has nice chances to let :life or :time break into 3rd assuming :life can best :air

Could should would. Usually I bid blindly too much, stayed at 6. Almost changed last min to 7. It happens.

We actually rebel vs bad rules and not persons.

I think no one would have cried if it is stated at the start of War that "Hey guys, if attrition is too slow then we might throw in an extra match
without salvage in R6, what do you think about it?" ECs caused so many salt through the years, and no one ever tried to rectify this.
A good EC is equally good/bad for teams (or there are multiple ECs which try to reach some sort of balance), meanwhile this one says like:
"hey, bottom 5 teams! get rekt sooner! especially you at #3!"

Other than that there is a rule which says:

"A team wins War by being the last team standing, or by having the largest vault out of all participants in the last round if none of them remain standing."
Stating early that War won't last longer no matter what makes these sort of ECs superfluous. Other possible choice is making War run until R9 (which ends at December 22),
and if there are still more than 1 team standing, you ask them if it is OK with them if we stop here for holidays, and we see at the start of the next year
if there are stable options to run Flash/server still works. If everything is OK, they go on with normal War endgame, if not, R9 vaults tell who won.

Btw, psychologically it is normal that people mostly like to remain silent in case of a dispute.

I'm sorry and I apologize if anyone got hurt through these disputes, that wasn't my goal. I also know that you guys work/ed a lot to make this
possible and I'm thankful for that. I also put a lot of energy and emotion into this, because it matters to me a lot, and I certainly don't expect
any rewards for it, at the same time it is pretty much offending when you are actually doing good and because of that you get into a bad position.
All I say that most of the qq is avoidable.

ECs cause salt because they're not always favorable to specific teams. They're not made to be. They're made to make the event more fun and/or cater to what the event needs to happen. In this case, teams dropping. Usually we want to avoid War ending with multiple teams alive, and have a last-man-standing win. We can't make sure that'll happen in the end, of course, but it's the objective.
Sometimes they RNG, like :entropy facing :aether this round. No one wanted to face :aether, but someone had to if they didn't win the bid. It happens, like any other RNG thing. Not much to do there.

ECs also aren't all planned from the beginning. They're made for the situation and they're usually made 1-2 days before the round they appear in.

About the duration of War, I received specific instructions before War started for War to end before Christmas and I wish to stick to that.

All 6 other teams have played :aether 3 times. 5/6 teams are playing them a 4th time, it's not a big deal.

ECs that increase discards shouldn't be a surprise, those have been a thing every War. I actually like this EC because it doesn't mess with any of the mechanics of War, you're just playing one match that you would play later on anyway.

And serp's not stepping down from anything, he's not a WM.

FWIW, I think it's possible to maintain both objectives-- make the EC fun for teams and maintain an increased attrition rate. I couldn't manage to find it, but I remember in a previous war there was an EC with an extra match played and teams could make their extra match deck from a copy of their vault. That maintains the intended increase to attrition by making a fifth match while giving teams the opportunity to field decks that they might otherwise not be able to. It's moot at this point, but something to consider if a future EC has similar requirements.

Since it hasn't been said much, props for all the hard work and effort Naii_the_Baf (and serprex in his officially unofficial role) have put in.
