Not if I'm merely correcting my old bid, yes?
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

I am very, very okay with that 2 card bid being legit.

Daxx is right. The bid is 3 cards. Lets move on.

Essence, most of the bidding issues we've had so far have been something you did. Please read and understand the bidding section of the War rules. It takes a minute to read them. And if something is still unclear, PM me before doing anything.

Screw this.  The fact that there's no room here for correcting your own bid to conform with the rules as they were at the time it was posted is inane and incredibly stupid.

I'm withdrawing this bid altogether -- if the first one was illegal, it should be deleted like it was in Demagog's thread, and all of my subsequent corrections to that bid should get deleted along with it.  I have no bids in this thread, and if that's not acceptable to you, feel free to appoint a new Master of Water.
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

I'm afraid that would be a real problem considering War is just about to end bidding.

Passive aggressive threats aside (I won't presume to speculate on what the actual ruling on you withdrawing your bid will be, I'll leave that to one of the officials), it's not "inane" or "stupid" when you pause to consider for a moment why what you were doing was invalid.

You could have corrected your bid without much fuss had you done so on the same day. The reason why doing it later was a problem is because you were effectively misrepresenting the status of the bid by doing so. That is, you were essentially causing the other masters to make decisions based off information which only you knew, and which you would have been able to manipulate later. Quite simply it would be like bidding on a player now with 1 card, saying that you "meant to do it earlier" - there's no way that any other master could reasonably have expected to know that information. The auction is based around the premise of complete information on bids already placed. Removing that complete information completely changes the game and violates rules-as-intended (possibly also rules-as-written, though that's a slightly more grey area as this situation wasn't exactly specified, merely implied by other rules).

By not editing your vote within the day, you were essentially submitting to the fact that your vote was invalid and you were not going to rectify the mistake. "Correcting the mistake" later just looks like cheating, plain and simple.

Daxx,

That's simply incorrect.  My earlier bid was invalid.  The only two options at that point are to 1) ignore it, or 2) correct it.   There is no circumstance under which it should be forced to be higher than it needed to be, period.  There is no information the other Masters can gain from an invalid bid except whether it will be ignored or corrected, because any other option is literally against the rules.

Period.

If the first bid gets ignored, then I'm perfectly right to simply leave it ignored and not make another bid.

If the first bid gets corrected, then I'm perfectly right to have corrected it to 2 cards.

There is NO SITUATION under ANY rational ruleset in which an invalid bid gets involuntarily raised to an unnecessarily high level.

Period.
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

Ok, now you are just being childish.

You cannot blame anyone else for not reading the rules. First you didn't read the part about the minimum bids, then you didn't read the part about editing your topics. Bottom line is that during this auction, I have spent over one hour correcting your silly mistakes. You should feel lucky that I haven't started issuing 6 card penalties because I could have.

The bid is 3 cards. If you think that you can somehow publicly threaten me to give you special treatment, you are sadly mistaken. If you are willing to give up your Master title because of these 3 cards, just let me know and I will make it happen in an instant. Nobody is forced to be a Master, and having that title won't give you any special treatment.

Luckily in this case all we need to do is find a new General for :water. The way it works is that we'll find someone else who will continue your bidding.

PM me in the next 24 hours. Because we need to move fast with this, if I get no response, I will take it as a "NO" and you will be replaced as the General of :water, and removed from the event.
