I say we have the war master appoint 2 or 3 backup players (Who aren't in the war already) to serve as minutemen, players who can be notified in a moments notice and play as an emergency replacement to any player on any team, replacements who arent bias to the war and wont care about whos team there on. Ill be a volunteer :D Because IDC about the war because im not in it, so I'll be a backup if you need it. :D

I feel like both Gl1tch and Jumba are right. It's a giant rock-paper-scissor match, but using the entire vault is just too much. Maybe come in with a set of 5-10 cards that can also be lost because of the loss. So the sideboard become a risk too, and might only be used strategically, but that might also limit the basic strategies used in deck building if a deck can also just become it's polar opposite if need be.

I thought about a execution for War II.

Each team has 6 players, like the War I.
A master and 5 players.
Each player brings 45 cards in the Vault.

After teams are made, master have to ally with another team billateraly. (Or choose a team they won't fight in first 5 rounds bilaterraly).

(alliances eg.)
 :aether- :fire
 :darkness- :death
 :air- :life
 :earth- :time
 :entropy- :water
 :gravity- :light

-------

First round is announced.

The battles are:

(eg.)
 :air- :aether
 :air- :earth
 :darkness- :aether
 :darkness- :life
 :life- :death
 :light- :life
 :earth- :water
 :entropy- :time
 :entropy- :gravity
 :gravity- :time
 :water- :fire

until each team has 2 other teams to fight with.

Then 3 players from a team decide to fight one of the assigned team, and the other fight with the other team.

-------

On round 2 teams fight teams which they havent fought yet.

(Until round 5)
--------

After round 5 the 5 teams with the worst record are eliminated.

--------

Round 6:

-Each team fights other teams,
-1 vs 1
-The two teams with the worst record are eliminated (Round 1-5 do not count here)

--------

Round 7:

Worst team passed fights with second best team.
Best team fights with second worst.

The teams who lose are eliminated.

--------
Round 8 FINAL:

The teams which won round 7 fight 6 vs 6.

The winner team is the war winner.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the players of a team in round one do 1-2 2-0 2-0 ---- 1-2 2-1 2-0, team's record is 10-5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vault: No discard or salvaging after losing/winning a battle. Only thing that can modify a vault are penalties.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If two teams have the same record after round 5/6, the team who won in round (1-5) gets the better placement.

Anothebrother that looks very good. We might have something like that although I'm a bit worried that it would make the process too complex. We'll see.

While drafting would be great for balance, it could also prove to be a disaster if player are forced to join teams they don't want to join.

IDK... If some Masters are better at recruiting/more popular/whatever else, it's only fair they have an advantage. About teaming, I like that, I'll always support adding more strategy in this War. The thing is, the 2 best teams might team up with each other and lead destruction over all the rest. Hmm, actually, that's pretty War-ish and fair. I like it!

I was contemplating putting a "Will not play for:" row in but then I thought people might choose too many elements... maybe you can be exempt from 3 elements of your choosing and the other 9 can pick you?

i think allies would be cool...especially if you could share cards in your vault (i'd prefer a vault transfer period rather than a constantly open flowing vault-to-vault access)

the issues with this are:
1. Makes it more complicated and might need to make the phases longer
2. Makes the RNG harder when deciding matches

It would be interesting tho if the war had a different theme tho every "year" or "season" or whatever...

Like next year's war could be alliances of trios... 4 war teams, 3 elements and masters on each team... 50% of each deck must have cards of one of those three elements, 3x vault...etc

The following year:
War starts out with 12 elements separate but divided into 2 teams of 6 elements each...each element is separate but only plays against elements of the other team...once one team is eliminated the 6 remaining elements are divided into 2 teams and so on and so forth

Year after:
3 teams, 4 elements each, teams may us ONLY cards containing their 4 elements...

etc. etc...

The alliance I called is just a pact to not fight during first five rounds. I found no better words, sorry for my poor english.

I'd rather be tough and take the stance of 'if you don't want to play for any particular element, you should not sign up in the first place'

fine with me I would just rather not have people being a baby about it and not participating because they got the wrong element... but I agree with you in theory that would be ideal...dunno if it'd work as well in reality
