EDIT: Though the people that miss or duplicate elements have a worse chance.

There are 2 problems with your calculations:

1. You can win without guessing all the elements right. You only have to guess more than anyone else. Thus (if we assume that it's totally random, with none of the elements preferred) your chances of winning are roughly
1/(number of people guessing)

2. War is not a lottery, assuming that every element has a 1/12 chance of winning is not statistically accurate.

Quite true, that calculation will only give you the odds of 12 things that have equal chances of lining up in all possible ways, lining up in a particular way. I was simply pointing out that his exponent was off by 2*, he did ask to be corrected.

*EDIT: Which it wasn't.
