It'd be cool if they had an Antagon award. Anyone who goes undefeated in a whole war gets one  :P
I would add that they also have to be on the winning team.

Cy Young, Heisman, Antagon?

I don't see how someone could be on the losing team, yet win every duel.  Not with the way I read the rules at least.

They might sit out on the last few rounds.

Someone goes 2-0 but his team struggles and they can only field 8 players in round 3.  They decide to exclude him henceforth.

I would add that they also have to be on the winning team.
Btw, this won't happen.  Antagon would've been the first to note the minute probability of such an event in War1, but there are going to be a lot more rounds in War 2 and opponents will be better prepared.

Edit: not to mention suicide decks may no longer be necessary and opponents can better adapt to a lack of pillars.

It would still be cool to have it as an available reward though, but if would have to have a minimum number of wins to earn it :P.

What other options are there for the bidding in next war?

This has been going on a while and doesn't seem that efficient.

I was thinking maybe Masters may only have 7 winning bids out at once, but are otherwise not limited to 21 players. That would help cut down on offensive bidding...

I like the bid escalation and the offensive bidding. If anything, I would solicit all entries to War over a week period, then start bidding. Give one day for bids and then immediately start overtime. Makes the bidding that much more urgent.

I definitely agree that the initial bidding period was too long. People got their 1 card bids in early, then there wasn't that much point in bidding until the very end, unless you were requesting a buyout. 2-3 days of initial bidding would have been more than enough. I think just 1 would make it difficult if you were in a timezone where you could only play at the beginning of the day, and would have no chance to re-raise until overtime. Or if you had a particularly busy day. 2-3 probably would be plenty, though, if the auction is used again in the future.

I also agree that getting all the entries before bidding would make sense too.

This is exactly what we had this time around except Generals were allowed to bid prematurely.

About auction...
To make it more active and interesting, I'd say that as soon as first bid is placed on a player, start the countdown for that player. 24 hours with no other bids, player is sold.
How would it work:
- players have a week to sign up for a war
- player A signs up on the first day, and receives a first bid
- couple of masters make their bids on same player the next day
- 48 hours from there, player is SOLD to highest bidder even though sign up period isnt over yet.
- after sign up period ends, apply current rules of overtime

Why?
- Masters would be encouraged to be active during bidding time instead of dropping all their bids on final day. They would get the chance of snipping someone cheaply that manages to go under radar, but early bidding would be more risky as later signups could be more interesting.
- Getting 1-2 players early in the team could help master at later bidding as at least he can count on those being in the team already. They could also help with propaganda section and help master browse the market for other players.
- It would prevent what KDZ did at last days of auction - placing bids all over the place on players he knows he wont get on the team. Those bids overprices the players making them less desirable for other masters. Those moves dont really hurt the masters - they have enough players to bid on; it hurts those players as they now have less chance of getting on any team.
- Finally, it would be more interesting.

Concerning the 9th player, the Rookie:
If a player qualifies for all but the <120 cards prerequisite can he still be recruited as a rookie?
How much time is allotted to the recruiting of Rookies?
Is it absolutely essential that the rookie sends the mentioned screencaps to the general?
