Title: War #9 - Voices of the Fallen
Post by: worldwideweb3 on November 20, 2015, 04:58:41 pm
This topic is for teams to discuss why they lost and educate people in future wars so they don't make similar mistakes. It is also for people still in war and people outside of war to console fallen teams.

:light don't have a good moment, no master and last in war... this is my second favorite element, sad see it :(

I'm really sad to see us in  :light going out first. We had the potential to go further but fate wanted something else.

Zso_Zso
The best general I've had. You are a very good deck builder, you know how to run a war in a very good way, you were crystal clear with what you wanted from your teammates from day one and you're good to work with. You have also been very active. Thank you for this war Zso!

Hainkarga

Some people said that this dude is invaluable in war. I can agree that you added a lot to the team while you were active. In your application post you said that your time was very limited, so from team  :light perspective I think you hold our expectations. It was fun to play with you and I hope to play with you again in the future, thank you.

Treebeard Xiii
I was looking forward to work with you this war. You said that your time was limited in your application. But not being able to even be in chat more than once in 8 rounds was far less than expected..... It would be good if you would describe your activity a bit more detailed next war.....

AD

I didn't know you and was looking forward to get to know you. I saw your farewell post and totally understand you, but it would have been good if you had mentioned this in your application.

seulintse
Honestly I didn't have very high expectations of you. I didn't add a lot to the team my first war, but at least you could have showed up in chat more than once when the rounds started.

Blacks
I could have done more but are overall satisfied with my participation.

:light had two big setbacks this war. Going from 6th place with 18,255 ( when the average war vault was 18,239.83 ) to second last after deciding the vault was the first. Our average card cost counting shards was 65.2 and not counting shards it was 59.7. We were able to afford 10 shard and had a vault consisting of 280 cards. Our in element cards were so expensive we were forced to buy scrap cards like holy light just to make it 50% in element. I don't know how other team's vault looks like but I'm sure other teams got both more shards and cards. We need to find a way to balance this for next war. I will post something in the feedback thread later.

Our second setback was that after round 2 only I and Zso were active when deckbuilding. We also had 4*double gen round in a row from round 2-5. After that we was not able to compete. It's also here I blame myself for not doing more.

All in all it was fun to play for  :light again and I hope  :light will do a lot better next war.

Thanks for the details and your point of view.
I really can feel what you said about double Generals in multiple rounds in a row. I made the same experience once with darkness and suggested to think of a more fair system. But this suggestion was rejected.
I think this is one of the main reasons why team light is out of war earlier than other teams.

The sun sets, and the Light fades from the world.

Hopefully I will be there when it rises again. ;)

So...Water's out in 11th, maybe 10th. That really can't be considered anything but a failure after last war, where we finished 7th and I'd argue that was closer to our floor than our ceiling. Here's why:

I got arrogant, honestly. I thought I could mirror what I did in Trials - I was awful enough in 4 that I sat out 5 and prepped for the future, I was decent in 6, I was good enough to go toe-to-toe with Raving in 7, I beat Blacksmith comfortably in 8, and then I defended in 9. I thought being 11th in my first war as general and 7th last war meant I could pull off a similar series of progression.

So I rode on what I thought was my experience, I built my team in a different way than the relatively successful setups of War 8 and Brawl 4, I made some gambles in the vaultbuilding phase that backfired, I slacked a little in early deckbuilding phases, and my actions caused so many little mistakes that by the time I realized I was the problem, the damage was pretty deep and ultimately irreversible.

It's rare that I consider myself overly prideful and it's even rarer that I admit it, but I think this thread is the place for it.

To my team: I'm so sorry, I honestly feel that you could have been part of something really special in this war and I wound up being the cause of the majority of things that went wrong for us. I hope at the very least you enjoyed yourselves.

And team death is out as well.

In wars 5 and 8 that I participated in, I knew exactly where to lay blame for the poor showings my team had at the time.  However, in this war, I cannot fault any of the decisions general rob made.  I think we had a strong vault and designed decks very well, and predicted our opponents as well as can be expected.  It is my belief that we simply had some very poor RNG in some of the early rounds, losing decks in matchups that statistically we were favoured in, which hampered our deckbuilding choices later on.  In all honesty, the only real mistake I can point to on our team was myself in (I think) round 7, where I faced ravingrabbid on team time and effed up the fifth game of a nailbiter match that I had the cards in hand to win no matter what he drew, but I made a blunder that cost both game and match.  (used grey nymph needlessly when I had bone wall in hand, ended up with 6 death quanta, couldn't play it, died to dragons next turn)  If it had happened earlier in war, I'd have been extremely displeased with myself (and still was), but at that point all it really did was screw us a round sooner than we would have been; lady RNG had already killed us, and the blunder was just euthanasia :p

I wish the remaining teams a fun remainder of the war and good luck.  I will add also that I am very impressed with Darkness this war, and given that my team has been eliminated, I now hope to see darkness take their first war title.

I have very few complaints about the results for Team Death this War.  I always hesitate to blame RNG but instead leave it to others to make that point (I would not disagree that a few rounds were quite rough despite otherwise good matchups on paper / decks).

This was a fun team - thank you to dragonsdemesne who was a trusty Lieutenant through out, available for strategizing, match playing, and substituting at almost any time it was needed or requested.  You were worth all 1,211 points paid to get you.  I look forward to teaming up on any future opportunities on team events.

ji412jo and eljoemo I got less than desired out of but not less than should be expected given various RL time constraints and such.  Both had input early and on many rounds early-on and did quite well letting the team know any time they were going to be busy or absent for a round or so.  Thanks for your contributions!

CrockettRocket and rockstar1723 were new to War but present enough to play almost all (if not) all matches they were assigned to.  If you read this post please don't let this War be your last PvP experience around here - keep taking the plunge into events and future Wars!

A blanket thank you goes out to opponents that made for fun duels, a few other players wiling to chat some about generalities of War and the state of the event, and the WM's+CuCNunofficial for keeping the event rolling (even if I still disagree on leaving it at 6-player teams for the auction).

I thoroughly enjoyed my first war experience, and I'd even do it all over again even if we wound up last place! I never once questioned the leadership of you, or Jcj, as I always felt that I knew not as much of either as you - and I certainly don't!

That being said, the whole of Team Water felt really confident coming into War, and in the early rounds and that was quickly diminished. The longer War lasted, the more distraught and negative we became as a whole. But we fought through it.

You have nothing to be sorry for. The team we had was special in my opinion, even with my sudden real life issues that caused me to be afk for practically 2 1/2 rounds. And for that, I am sorry. I became a dead member in the team with no feedback or opinions simply because I had real life going on(and I know that's perfectly reasonable-) but I felt like I certainly held the team back because of it.

I don't have enough posts to put this in the proper section, so I'm going to do it here:

Goodbye.

My experience on this forum has been nothing short of fun and memorable, but I cannot stay here much longer. I simply have too much going on in life(mostly negative things) that I don't have time for the game or forums. One day I may return but it definitely won't be soon. Team Water: Ddevans, Jcj, Spiel, Espi, thank you so much for your support, from both my girlfriend and I. Knowing that you guys cared about what was going on, and being there for me even though I never opened up. And another thank you to Newbie for being such a good opponent and person in general. You were also there for me, even though I never told you what was going on.

And last but not least - A big thank you to the forum as a whole! You are all amazing people and I hope to be back someday. Don't let the war drama ruin your friendships and what you've built :).

Ddevans, Jcj, and RR - I'll be back one day to take that Master of Water title. Be prepared! And if I don't, I'll still follow any of you into war!

Dd's exaggerating. Awesome Person, Great Master, Good General. We all share the burden of our failure.

Really gutted about Rulac, he was a brilliant team member and a really nice guy, I really hope he comes back.

I'll leave you with a poem.

Treading Water

The depths, the waves, the currents quick,
Team Water braved vault arithmetic,
The friendships formed will truly stick,
But war, my friend, ain't no picnic,
Their lieutenant's a lunatic,
And RNG's a dick.

Round 10.

So, yeah, I had to sub both of the other two matches we had and failed horribly.

I'm not very good at writing. Sorry team. All I can do now is write something for each and every one of you, fellow soldiers.

CCCombobreaker. The pro of the team. Without him, we wouldn't even be at round 10 now. Great strategist and one of my best friends, even if sometimes very busy at work. I could say he was the "brain" of the team and didn't let me do some stupid decisions.

dark ripper. Another pro, mostly at playing the game itself rather than deckbuilding. A great player, MVP, I could say, and a great friend too. I would've wanted to have him as a challenge for the next trials, but it seems like that isn't one of his goals atm.

Discord. Not really pro, but a hard worker indeed. Did pretty much all the testing throughout the war and helped us make decisions with the help of the testing she's done. Also, one of my best friends, even if she can become quite negative from time to time.

qwerter. Not really pro either, but certainly above average and a good friend as well. He keeps underestimating himself a lot, like Discord. Negativity won't get you anywhere, my friend. Cheer up. And since you're leaving soon, hope you'll return as soon as you can.

Asdfugio. I don't know what to say about this guy. He disappeared at some point and never heard from him again. I guess he was one of the most active newbies, considering some of them left mid-auction.

And well, myself, iancudorinmarian. I did all I could to keep the morale of the team as high as possible. I also came up with some quite original decks throughout the war, even if they lost, they were good decks and I'm proud I didn't just play the same old decks over and over like plenty of teams have done or are still doing.

The most important thing of all, we had fun, and forged some new bonds or just made old ones stronger through this war. See you in the next one :)

If I'd have to choose one team I'd like to win, that would be :air , mainly because of an awesome general and some nostalgia :P

We're out.

:entropy was good :( It just happened to be that one bad move we made in the middle that brought us down. I WARNED YOU ALL SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD HAPPEN!
But I guess this is the end for us...
Entropy will come back next year, hopefully having a stringer impact. It was fun playing war.

EDIT (ianc posted before me...):

I can say the same. This team has become like family to me, and i'll never forget that. I plan on keeping the bonds, and hopefully the team will semi-reunite next year.

qwerter I'm still gonna miss you qwert :( but you should at least pay a visit or two on your journey through life.

CCCombobreaker Almost always the one to show up last minute to give me some motivation to testing. You were there with me even when no one else was. Thanks for making me feel less lonely ::)

dark_ripper I didn't see you as often, but I know you and I created a sort of bond when we could, which sorta tied us together as family to me. Hope to see you in trials next time :)

iancudorinmarian You still owe me alot for all that testing. You're welcome <3 Pretty much always the one to help me start on my work in testing, I liked some of your decks, they were fun. I hope to see you next war, maybe leading entropy again. You've become a good friend to me, and I don't want to let that go :)

Asdfugio You disappeared in the middle of war. Not sure what to say about you. But I think you would've ended up like the rest of the team. A family member to me. Well, I hope to see you next year..

I'm lazy, and I just got home, and tired as f_ atm, so just a quick message.

Thanks for making this a great War experience, I was really hesitant to join War tbh at the start of all this, but maybe I'll be back for more one day. I don't know. We'll see. It's been a pleasure to work with you guys, and I'll be more positive next time. :D Maybe I should ask for more pointers on how to be a better player too I guess.

Anyway, as much as I hoped we could win or at least do a bit more decently I'm glad I made the journey with all of you :)

Well, that was it for me. Our result is somewhat deserved, being in the second half slightly exceeded our late expectations. I'm totally angry for the last turns misplays though. Seeing gravy and air on top wasn't surprising to me. What surprises me is the top teams inability to beat darkness.

Welp, that's it for team :earth.  I can say that I'm proud of my team for sticking it out with me through a tough war and for making the top half; I'm sorry that I wasn't able to be a stronger general than I was.  My strategy for planning the initial vault was definitely faulty, and I didn't realize just how weak of a vault we actually had.  A rookie mistake, but one that proved costly and one that I couldn't go back and fix.  A bit of bad luck in matchup guessing in the early rounds and a complete failure of the "run em back" in round 3 was a mix of bad luck and fatal hubris, and from there on we were largely clinging for dear life.  We put together some good wins and I couldn't be prouder of how it turned out.

Just like :earth's true spirit, we hung tough, bent but didn't break.  Our metaphorical stone skin and some good teamwork made us like Diamonds, and we roared like mighty Antlions while we lasted, taking solid scalps along the way.

All three of my active teammates were invaluable resources I'd highly recommend to any general playing to win.

Well played to all, and to all good luck!

Game over for :gravity Gravity :gravity

It was a lot of fun and while we managed to do a good War, it is sad we couldn't do better. That is partly because of the awful luck in 2nd half of War, and because of some vault building mistakes that shall not be repeated. Overall, 4th place is a good base to work from to reach the top next year, may it be me as General or someone else.

My biggest thanks go to inthisroom, a very reliable and friendly guy who is always there when you need him. He had a lot of good thoughts and was a huge help in coming so far. Especially late War, we two managed everything, and although we ended on 4th, I think we made the most of the situation every time.

I also want to thank andretimpa and MeowMeowCat, who gave useful advice when they were online. It is always good to have a Gravity veteran on your side when trying to reach the top. Another thank you to Hotyugh, who helped us a lot early War and performed well as our mascot. No one else can claim to have one. ~

My best wishes to Darkness to get the deserved title, you and Air did great work. You both are in the standings where you belong to.

It's funny how last war I was the top poster in this thread, spamming responses for each team's departure. I guess your outlook differs when you're not winning but trying to keep afloat above the bottom every round ::)

First up, I owe everyone and Aether an apology. Near the start of the war, I'd complained that people hated on Aether unnecessarily, and Aether was totally balanced as an element. But 'deuce op' was not really much more than a lame excuse. Aether is very very powerful, but I wasn't strong enough to realize its full potential back then. So I'm sorry for the whining at the start of the war (and perhaps later on too). And I hope the last two wars will teach people that Aether is beatable with the proper dedication to your own element, and it'll be able to leave behind more than the necessary amount of hate.

Next, thank you council for picking me as the General for Aether. It was an honor, and I loved every second of it. And the best part of it was getting to work with such an awesome team!

Jenkar, I'm still kinda guilty because I feel like you should've ended up with afda and taken air to a new height. But I was extremely glad to have you as my lieutenant. You were always around to help out with testing, especially earlier on when it was much more stressful. It was also inspiring to see you put on a happy face despite all the personal losses. It's a shame we couldn't interact more and develop a stronger bond, but it was an honor converging paths with you even this once. ^^

Undeadspider1990, you were one person I had my sights on since the start of auction. I knew you had great potential from the time I played you, and it was worth it to have you as my other lieutenant. It's a shame you had to be very busy throughout the war, because I'm sure with a little experience you'd be a monster deckbuilder. Thanks for all the work you put into playing the matches! It's a shame I couldn't interact more with you either. But I suppose we will remain buddies for life after that glorious match. ^^

bjesse, I haven't heard from you for a while so I hope you're alright! I hope you managed to get past all the trouble rl was giving you. It was great having you on board. Thanks for all the work you put into testing early on!

Spacious... I believe I own you and the community another apology here. Spacious was really great, a person I was hoping would end up surpassing even Ginyu in terms of strength as a newcomer. But alas, I was not there to help her early on. Vaultbuilding was spent in mismatched communication and misguided emphasis on specific decks on my part, which prolly bored her and made her give up on EtG. If you ever return to read this, Spacious, I'm sorry I didn't get the oppurtunity to show you just how mindblowingly awesome this game is :|

sumtwig07, you were an awesome teammate as well. I'm sorry if I mollycoddled you at times while trying to help you with matchups. I'm not really good at leading a team, am I? xD Anyways, thanks for your part in paying the matches early on. Hope rl treats you well :)

I apologize to you all for not being a good leader, especially when the team needed it the most early on. And I thank you all for being there on my roster. If it wasn't for you guys, I'd have given up on R4 and let aether falter. You guys kept me going, and look how far we managed to rise :D

It was truly an amazing war, and I'd like to thank all the other teams for making it so much fun! You all made a commendable effort in the new meta, and it was amazing to watch the creativity flow from everyone. Special shout-outs to:

www3 and Coffeeditto (and serp and Dm): While I'm still very grumpy about the lack of a proper EC to boost relics, you guys did an amazing job at managing War. Thanks for taking the time to ensure that this event stayed so epic.

Team Earth: I knew from Round 1 that you guys wouldn't go down easy in the end, but your turn-around was still an inspiration to watch. Great job on all the cool new decks, and on giving the top teams such a hard time. You guys should've ended up in a better place.

Team Time&Entropy: You guys were always a pleasure to face, thought that might've simply been because you were so easy to beat. :P Seriously, it was fun coming up with the deck for you guys because neither of you were truly easy. I feel proud that I managed to do so well against such tough opponents as you guys.

Aves, Newbiecake and Discord: I consider myself a good writer, so I can be a bit arrogant when it comes to writing. So when I first saw you guys write, I viewed it with disdain and criticized how it could be so much better. But you guys were essential to making war so awesome! It was a pleasure reading your work, and I hope you guys continue writing in the future! If you ever want constructive criticism or teaching, I'm here to help. ^^

Team Air: Well, I saw this coming since the start. I'm sorry for stacking my auction plan against you Afda, but I knew I couldn't let you develop that awesome team... and you ended up doing it anyway :P. You guys used all the advantages you had right, and, well, now have the position you deserve. It was a blast facing you... I mean, kinda. At least it inspired me to come up with the awesomest decks possible from the vault in a bid to defeat that monster of a dark domin :D I'll always treasure the hours spent testing out 300+ games in total just for you guys.

Team Darkness: The one I did not see coming. Physs did manage a great team, but I still did not expect you guys to shatter all expectations and manage a record-breaking first place in War. I mean, you still have yet to achieve it, but what you've showed so far is worthy of a record itself. I do hope we end up as the team to have just an even record vs you guys tho :P.

Once again, thank you all for an awesome War. I'd write my experiences as a General, but you can find much better generals than me for that. I'll just wish the best of luck to the two remaining teams. Air is on the verge of a comeback, and so everything is still pretty interesting. You guys will make for an amazing final battle.

/me gathers the popcorn ^^

Best General Ever :'(

Seriously mate, your continued hard work and commitment is what inspired me to be of any use at all. As for that tournament match when we met, totally! I was certain I'd be joining Team Light, but when I got outbid by Zawadx I thought hey, maybe this could work :D

Sorry I wasn't there for testing beyond the first few rounds :( RL got too real on me.

Team Aether, it was a pleasure! We had a hell of a comeback ^_^

Zawadx is indeed very strong. The last few rounds were definitely 100% his work, and the rounds before he was one hard working gen.
I did post in my app that activity may be a weak point, and indeed near the end it was (I'm not sure i expected the war to drag till final exams / mass project giving dates). Still, we did pretty good, i'd think.
Best of luck to darkness & air.

Firstly, hats off to Darkness. You deserved this one. It was a pleasure to be the thorn in your side.

To all of team Air, you guys are awesome. Thanks for making team chat a fun place to be, and for all the time you put in. We were almost there.

To the WMs and everyone else who worked on this war, you improved a lot and did a great job running it. Thanks for all your effort.

Also, I wanted badly to win 3 in a row with 3 different elements.. but I'm proud of what our team has achieved nevertheless.

Personally,I would have like to test more this war.. but being in North America doesn't go well with an European time zone team most of the times!

See ya all next war!

Thanks everybody for an amazing first PvP experience. I never expected something like this to be as big as I thought it would be, so thank you everybody. Teammates, spectators, WMs, and of course, members of the other elements. Congrats to everybody for their efforts, and good luck in future endeavors!

I leave you with this, something I decided to write, with the great assistance of Discord, dawn to dusk and Zawadx.

It's moments like these when Patience can turn into Serendipity. Sacrifice does not bring out one's Bravery. Focus and Integrity show the Wisdom that leads into Readiness and Freedom. Acts of Gratitude brings out the Divinity in one. But if all is absent, Void will take over and rule all. :darkness

Wow... what a journey.

While I'm glad to see the end of it after 16+ weeks, and while we've had our fair share of ups and downs, it's been an incredible experience overall. Thank you to everyone involved - participants, followers and staff members alike, for making War #9 such a fun experience.

I was confident I could lead Darkness to the top three again, but I don't think anybody - myself included - expected me to win as a first-time General. I'd like to extend a huge thank you to everybody who showed so much support for my cause - actually ended up facing a fair bit of negativity from several "veterans" (who shall remain nameless...) but the positive reinforcement from the rest of the community has been absolutely fantastic.

---

Team Light, I was gutted to see you hurt so much by the market prices - my first impression from the rosters was that you had an awesome team of friendly, active players, and a couple of very experienced deckbuilders. You had some neat deck innovations - it was just a shame that your core decks were so expensive. I'm looking forward to seeing how well Light performs next War with some more favourable card prices.

Team Water, you were another team I was really impressed with the composition of - bunch of awesome people here. dd, you admitted to a few mistakes earlier in this thread, and I think recognizing your faults is one of the most important keys for improvement - if you lead Water again next year with these changes in mind, I'm very excited to see how far you can go.

Team Life, I'll admit it - I was surprised by the amount of trouble you gave us. Darkness isn't typically weak to Life's decks, but you managed to hold one of the strongest winrates against us in the early game. You killed our Vader Saders and our Ghostmare - neither of those decks got used again. Props to you for being one of our toughest opponents while you were still in the game, with so many Life experts and generally experienced players on the team I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised. Better luck next year!

Team Death, I was also sad to see you guys knocked out early - everyone deals with bad RNG in their competitive matches at some point, but... wow. I'd have said you definitely had the upper hand in a lot of those matches - for one of my favourite Elements, with such a strong player and a good friend as your General, it hurt me to see you guys get punished so heavily by bad luck. Hoping things turn around for you next time, would love to see that glorious purple at the top of the leaderboards next War. (behind black, of course!)

Team Time, like Light, I know you were another team that suffered from expensive market prices. Spike, once again, you managed to build an awesome team for a very low cost, and I have to tip my hat to you for your competitive use of Shard of Void... I was disappointed I didn't get to do that this War, we simply couldn't afford to bring them in favour of our incredibly expensive Vampire Daggers. A couple of big names from this team have since left the community, but I really hope to see you again for next War.

Team Entropy - this is an element that'll always be quite special to me, as the one that gave me my first taste of competitive PVP. It's awesome to see a team full of Entropy fans this year. It was interesting to see some of the deckbuilding choices made here in comparison to the traditional decks we're used to seeing - some of them worked out, and although some didn't, they were all very fun. Better luck to you guys next year!

Team Earth, in true Earth style, you guys made a hell of a stand! Despite a rough start, you endured, and ended up giving us far more trouble than we bargained for - I think you were one of only three teams who had a positive winrate over us at some point during War. Kirbyrolls are terrifying.

Team Fire - inactivity from most of your team seemed to be the killer here, really sorry it had to be like this for you guys. The addition of Shard of Patience didn't help your cause, either, it makes for some very strong answers to one of Fire's best competitive decks. I'm sure Fire will reign again - I'm looking forward to meeting you on the battlefield in the future.

Team Gravity, I think we all knew from the get-go that you'd be a formidable force this War. A strong team with a powerful General, shards, and that colossal starting vault of yours meant we all expected a great performance from you, it's a shame that bad luck in the later rounds prevented Gravity from making a top 3 finish. You should all be very proud of what is probably Gravity's best performance ever - very well done!

Team Aether, while I can't say I've ever been a fan of your element in general (despite the number of Darkness/Aether duos we fielded this War...) I must say that I'm very impressed with your comeback. After an early 0-5 I certainly didn't expect to see you in the top 3. Congratulations to you for your performance as a General, Zawadx.

Team Air... wow. I think both of us knew from the very beginning that we'd be against each other in the final rounds. After stealing two of my teammates in the auction, I could tell from your roster that things were going to be very interesting! Our Air matchups were always the ones I was most worried about during deckbuilding - this was a very, very strong team. Afda, I've considered you one of the very best Elements players ever since you taught me how to build my first good Silver arena deck, over Kongregate chat... that's going back couple of years ago now. It's been an honour to fight with you in this event - playing against such an unpredictable opponent and talented deckbuilder always keeps me on my toes. Thanks for being such a good sport the whole way through - whether I'm working with you or fighting against you again next War, I'm sure it's gonna be great.

---

Team Darkness... my brothers. Everybody says they couldn't possibly ask for a better team, but... I really do think this has been the best team in the history of War. Every single one of you is amazing. Everyone pulled their weight, everyone was very active, and I'm very glad we managed to create the fun and friendly team environment I aimed for with my team building. I've built new friendships and strengthened old ones within this team, and every step of the way has been absolutely awesome. Thank you all, so much, for being a part of this with me.

chrispybacon84 and RapidStar_, nobody can argue that you two were the star newbies of War. I'm thrilled that I got to be the one to give both of you your first War experience, and very proud that I could lead you both to victory. Definitely looking forward to working with both of you again in the future - never doubt yourselves, you're both awesome players and you made very valuable teammates. I hope this win marks the beginning of very successful PVP careers for both of you!

Aves, while I'd had very few interactions with you before the auction, I knew there was a reason I was drawn to your signup topic. Perhaps it was the lone :darkness symbol in your list of favourite elements, perhaps it was the black spiral you picked for your avatar, perhaps it was the row of birthday cakes in your awards list. Whatever it was, that feeling definitely paid off, because you are an absolute star. The amount of time and effort you put into our pad and vault management - even going as far as writing a script to check our totals during vault preparation - was absolutely fantastic, and very much appreciated. Thank you for all your hard work, I'm sure our team would be a lot less organized without you around!

trashduke, I can't believe how cheap I got you in the auction - I'd have expected to pay far more for such a skilled player, and was absolutely prepared to do so. Your previous event performances in tournaments, Trenzalore and the World Championships definitely brought you to my attention, and I'm very lucky to have secured you for Team Darkness. I really appreciate how much time you put into preparation each week, despite your busy schedule - that dedication is very impressive, and it's that kind of attitude fom everyone that made our team so strong. Thank you for everything.

Calindu, as soon as I saw your signup post, I knew I wanted to work with you again. You took a risk in drafting me to Entropy #8 last year, and I'm very glad I impressed you enough as a soldier to get you to list Darkness as a favourite for this War. You are, without a doubt, one of the best players, deckbuilders and innovators this game has ever seen, and I'm very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with you for two Wars in a row. Thanks for being such an awesome guy, a brilliant teammate and a good friend - so proud that we're both able to get that War winner icon under our names!

---

It makes me proud beyond words to finally see the forums reigned by Darkness - absolutely thrilled to be the one to lead Darkness to its first War victory ever. Thank you again to everyone who has shown so much support along the way.

Long may we reign.
