Looking at the Applications 'round, I also prefer 4-and-the-gen per team (4+1 sizes), even if that means I ended up shafted from this War.

This leaves 6 apps not picked.
Considering these 6 apps would struggle to be of any use to a team at all, and there will likely be afks, are 6 new players enough for the subs bench?

Having not played in war, I haven't yet commented for lack of experience, but it does seem to me that with 7 ups per deck minimum needed, and such a long, hard competition, some (not all) of the absolute newest apps will really struggle.

This comes from someone who is, in general, in massive favour of giving new players a chance. 5+1 might work out. 4+1 will leave every gen fairly happy with their team.
