Minimum bet is equivalent to 12-card discards (if you lose all bets and matches), which is still less than Round 2's discards... No, my question is not silly.

A team could potentially lose 108 cards only if they put maximum bets on winning every match, and then lost them all. If you don't want to risk losing 108 cards, don't put maximum bets on winning everything.

You're allowed to bet on losses. Then you get relics, and don't discard any extra cards, if you lose.
