War #7 - Voices of the Fallen

If I had guardtal (even if I had chosen not to use it) time "would not have sent this deck at you guys".  (not an exact quote, but TORB did say it ).  And my deck would have been fine (and I still probably would have used the same deck).

Well, if it is any comfort, I meant that if dbh got rng-ed to death we wouldn't hard counter it and bring a steal heavy Ghostmare

Aether should probably won a long time ago and we already went wrong starting round... 2 or something? With an extreme amount of similarity in our decks, which got repeated later on (though this time due to necessity instead of choice), but still managed to hang on even if just by making sure no rules were broken (not if I could help it we wouldn't).

I was surprised we even made it into top 4, let alone as 2nd (imo, we should've finished second, too, cause air this round is just... no) but 2 double aether matchups with having the right deck at the wrong place both times was just the final drop. Though I have to say that Reclusetal was a nice rush deck that I didn't see coming.

A third place. That's actually pretty darn good, but still… Playing two decks versus aether, while air - with three, 3, cards less than us, had a free round. In addition to that, opposite deck matchups would probably make us go 1-1. Sigh… I cannot complain, and I dislike ranting, but we were extremely unlucky with that one. Oh well.

Some notes about my teammates:

PoLdeR and S2: did good until they left, which was about round 3. Haven't heard a word from them yet.
Dm: Always available, and always there if I wanted another voice at a moment.
andretimpa: Did a -lot- of work with all the intelligence topics. You don't know how much that helped =P anyway, a good member of the team.
TorB: Worth the total team cost alone. One of the, maybe the best guy I've had in a team before. Here, take a cookie.

Basically: TorB and I comes with predictions and deckbuilding, timpa does vault tracking and comes with some suggestions and Dm pops in at random times with suggestions. TorB takes care of everything administrative (I'd f*** that up for sure lol) *and* SDPCT.

I'm not a writer of any kind, so I'll leave this here.

Last note: Please. Please fix the auction until next war. I was *this* close to not even get a full team because people chose other elements, because literally everyone got the price of 14 cards. Moral: Higher top-price and less spots in a team with so few applicants. Auction was hilarious. imo only TorB really proved his worth, andretimpa was close. 28, almost a whole deck for S2 and PoLder… I wouldn't if I could. Last war I got a pretty good team at low costs.

this was indeed my first WAR and first any elements forum event for that matter. First time I lost, that had desyncs too, I felt bit angry, not proud of it, but after that win or loss, it was a blast! I thought I'd had much for time for this war, but things at work got bit into chaos mode, so I had to prioritise my doings. However, I played all my matches, day or night, and substituded others, and enjoyed this a lot in overall. Being first timer and "slacker", unfamiliar with all the rules and stuff and lack of focus for this, I skipped all transmutations/discards/spoils, whole vault thing, since it looked to be under control. Learned a lot of about these forum events, feeling smarter now. Great thanks to Laxadarap and Legit for delivering great decks, warmaster(s) for the effort and thanks for opponents for great sportsmanship.

Reading feedbacks of Masters abouth team members from past Wars is good tip for choosing teams for next War.
Some players arent worth even 1 bid.

idk whether or not to join next war... i let down my team with my terrible timezone, forcing me to be subbed and i didnt help much with deckbuilding
theres also the fact that i had barely any upgrades to test much but i did test a couple decks...
im definately not going in next war after further consideration

Looking at previous posts, participation and involment wasn't any different from most of other teams this war, with the little exception of general being off:)
Team, run by 2 noobs (mathman101 and myself), achieved it's plan minimum, finished a bit lower than expected at start, but higher when abandonned by general.
We've got our ups and downs during preparations, but it was fun - especially explanations and excuses for being absent

Sorry Vang, but quitting on your team mid-competition is not doing 'right' if it is due to your stated reasoning (format of event).
