Mark changing along with deck modifying seems a little too strong for my tastes.

Most of the rules seem good, but I don't like the inclusion of Support Teams, which were a total headache during the last war (Oni knows what I'm talking about). Also, while I can see the rationale for blind bidding, it seems unfair to the players being bid on.

I'm not seeing what's so unfair to the people being bid upon? If you meant that some people won't know if they're bid upon or not, how is that really different from everyone getting a bid of 1 at min and then you don't know if you get to make the cut?

All the changes look everywhere from decent to sexy, with one huge exception.

I'm not seeing what's so unfair to the people being bid upon? If you meant that some people won't know if they're bid upon or not, how is that really different from everyone getting a bid of 1 at min and then you don't know if you get to make the cut?

What's unfair is that the community has zero idea how the auction is progressing. Knowing you got bid on, but not knowing if you made it into war, is a completely different kind of suspense than not knowing anything at all.

You have to look back to when the auction didn't exist to see it's hidden value. It's gotten both newbies and veterans involved in the community through public interaction. People have been elated at getting their first bid, campaigned and improved stats to get bids, discussed the auction in chat, made tables of bidding.

The auction is a community affair, which is not the kind of thing we should look to get rid of.

I might be a step behind mesa, because I don't even see the rationale for it, even from a gameplay perspective.

Strategist seems stronger than General. Too OP at the moment.

Most of the rules seem good, but I don't like the inclusion of Support Teams, which were a total headache during the last war (Oni knows what I'm talking about). Also, while I can see the rationale for blind bidding, it seems unfair to the players being bid on.

While I think the current system is a big improvement from last war, I still don't like support teams. The main thing I dislike is having to prep for 7 matches every week for 3 months, and expecting my entire team to remain active for the entire war, especially since I have minimal control over who is on my team thanks to blind auction.

I agree with dd, I think blind auction is a really really bad idea. I see most generals being upset because their team was either overly expensive, or they got screwed and have players they didn't really want on their team.

I think blind auction for initial betting is acceptable (mainly to even out competition for cheap players), but it should be standard auction thereafter.

1 little potential problem I see is that a few veteran might get ignored with this formula of blind auction because people might wanna have some cheap players.  If you bid on a ton of vets, you will most likely get no newbies.  Maybe the 7th member could be bidden after since he's only halfway in the team anyway (that member can change of course later in war, but still).  It would prevent great players being leftovers.

I agree that strategist is too powerful and blind auction is a bad idea.  Strategist's power especially hurts some teams more than others, as in being able to bring Purifies against Death at a moment's notice.  Blind auction has none of the excitement of a regular auction and makes War less of a community event and more of just another PvP event.

I agree to disagree on blind pick.

I am one to think the auction is one of the most exciting parts of not only war, but of the whole elements community. All of the bidding, so fun, I don't see why we should remove a winning formula.

As for support teams, I'm still bleh about it, but its not that bad

Only way to make Strategist work is make it so Strategists may only battle other Strategists
