I'm fine with the way it is, but it could have been more fair if WM randomly pick a member of each team and if he wins the team is immune, or better make 6 epic matches  and have those making you immune or not.

or instead of beating an Lt, if your Lt wins, then you are immune. that way every team has an equal chance, more or less.

If the event card is triggered like now "you have to beat an Lt", your opponents got the choice. They can elect to not run an Lt. against you.
If you have to win with an Lt. then your fate is in your own hand.

And people can just not play an Lt. to boot.

Well then, is the only team with few enough relics to take advantage of their opportunity to attack. Don't think anyone expected this to pan out this way.
