War 5 - Round 1

Nobody could remember who launched the first fateful salvo, but everyone could remember who fired the last.  Death ruled the day.  But a new war was brewing.  Already, the elementals had grown in strength once again.  Among the wreckage of the last war were tokens of power.  Relics that bestowed untold strength, but were delicately spun and had to be treated with the utmost care, lest they break and be lost forever.  Surely, others will look in envy upon such beauties, and the denizens of the various elementals will certainly go to great lengths to secure them for their lieges.  Who would fire the first shot that would begin the next great War?  Only time will tell. Event Card: Notes:  Generals will reply to a topic within their team sections and place a bid of 1 card or higher specifying both the number of cards bid and which cards are to be part of the bid.  The deadline for posting the bid is 24 hours prior to the deckbuilding deadline and the relic won is useable immediately.  If no bid is posted it will be assumed 1 card is sacrificed and will be chosen at random.  If a bid is placed but cards are not specified, they will be chosen at random.  All cards bid in this manner are lost, regardless of whether or not it is the highest bid. WAR #5 - ROUND 1 Read the War Rules Contact Warmasters News: War begins! Deckbuilding: Duel phase has started Teams have to build decks for all players who are fighting during this round. Decks are to be added to the Vault Google doc. Team Strategist works with the doc but all team members participate in the planning. Please do not post your decks in public or talk about them in chat. All decks must be made ready before the timer goes to zero, after which editing deck post is strictly forbidden. Failure to have all the decks ready will lead to a severe card penalty, and/or automatic losses. It is highly recommended that all team members double-check their decks before the duels start. Duels: Round has ended Duel phase starts when deckbuilding ends. PM your opponent and try to find a time that suits you both. Time Zone Converter might be useful here. If you cannot find a time when you are both are online, please contact Warmasters kev, ddevans96, and Mithcairion immediately. If the match doesn't happen you both lose by default unless one of you is clearly more active and/or flexible. Duels are "best-of-five", you must use the deck and mark built during the previous phase, and you cannot make any changes to your deck or mark during the round. Exactly what I'm thinking. Being forced to discard = not cool.



Basically, with the automatic discarding, this event card adds nothing cool to War - it adds few to none options and removes some cards from the War. It is in no way fun nor special and that is something that should be avoided at all costs - we add event cards in order to create new strategies, new plans or just make the event better in a way. While I agree that 24 relics total is a little too few, this is not the way to solve it.

If minimum bet was zero i'd totally dig this card. If you want to risk for a relic, go you, if you don't, sit back and enjoy watching others eat their vault away. As it stands, this card forces a negative action (-1 card minimum) with very high chances of no reward, and ... small reward if won.

Alright, I'll say it here and hope to not have to say so again.  Y'all are 100% free to discuss whatever you want to in the round threads.  Just be aware that I ignore a lot of the discussion in these threads because it tends to be a bunch of whiny Generals sobbing over the massacre of 0.3% of their vault in what can only be called a Warmaster-hate-crime.

Section 2.2 .of the rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,37505.0.html) numbered the general #1, and other members #2-#6, but the listing in the first post of this thread has Generals without numbers and team members numbered 1-5, so we can't directly map from the thread: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,37689.0.html all numbers must be shifted  by 1.
