I have a brilliant suggestion for next War.  Next time there should be an Event Card known as Hand of Fate.  What's it do?  Well for that round all matches are decided by a coin flip.  Sounds unfair doesn't it?  Well I honestly can't say it's much worse than the Round 11 Event Card.  Seriously, as much as people have complained about RNG screwing up since the beginning of PvP, this Event Card actually got passed?  I had no complaints about the Age of... Event Cards.  I had no complaints about the other Event Cards that have shown their heads so far this war.  This one has absolutely killed my spirit for War completely.  Realistically speaking, I'm not going to waste my precious time thinking of counters to decks and analyzing vaults when the next Event Card could just make everything completely pointless.  I liked War much better when there were no Event Cards involved.
As much as this event card was a crowd pleaser to put people on edge, it just isnt a fair event card. People have been suggesting ways of removing the RNG aspect from war with "retreats". and yet event cards like these dont help. the idea of "best of 5" was 100x times better than "best of 1".

I can also understand the want for no event cards but what is the event cards had to be polled at the start of the round by generals, and a majority vote would decide on whether it is used this round or not. or just a 50% chance of a event card. some thing like that

oh and LD's computer should get a permaban

Desynchs really screwed this event card up.

The amount of hard work going up in smoke when events like these (RNG-losses in general) unfold has just about killed my motivation for War. Winning is only a bonus, but being denied a reward for hard work over and over ruins any game.

I'm now convinced retreating is a good option to have.

You might want to take some care not to invalidate the hard work of other teams.

Work that I've given much credit for in the past doesn't change the event card that I'm giving feedback on. You might want to stay on topic.

I think this is blown up a bit but I can definitely see your point.  Just looking through a few matches I figure that as much as 10-20% of matches have different results playing 1 match compared to 2 out of 3.  This is not a coin flip but significant enough that people won't like it and will complain.

On a similar point, most events tend to do matches best 3 out of 5.  I think this would be good to do in war as well.  Luck is always a factor and is not going to be taken out.  It would be boring if a deck that won 55% of the time won every time because sometimes you just have to put up your best chance even if it isn't a favorite.  3 out of 5 I think would be better and would have very little effect on getting matches done.  If you can play 3 matches, it shouldn't be much trouble to play 5.

You saw the card before the War started, just like I did. You didn't complain about it then. It could have been removed or balanced otherwise.

So what does that tell you? That I didn't mind it. Do I now? No. What I said was is that desynchs messed it up.

Although saying I didn't mind it back then is a very weak argument since an analysis is never complete without experience. Regardless, you seem to assume things I haven't said.

Thanks for reminding me. The fact that the list was posted on the Council forum and shown to all the Masters is a giant overlook, because UW didn't have a chance to see the cards at all. Next time it should be posted on the General private area as well.

This. Every team gets RNGscrewed at some point in time. If it happens early in war, you can bounce back. If it happens late, you are pretty much F'ed. This event card would have been "acceptable" at best in the first 3 rounds of war.

On a similar note, RNGscrewage + desyncs + months of war = not very fun. One of those variables can at least be modified easily. Like zeru said, instead of changing the rules, change the #s. I think we need to drastically reduce the starting vaults, and consider Round 1 discards starting at at least 18. Just my opinion.

That's probably the best idea I've heard for reducing the time of war.  The first round also has the element of surprise vault-wise, so it gives clever teams more of an advantage to coming prepared.

On a sidenote, this war is looking exciting.  Looks like the underdogs have a shot at turning the tide on the leading element.

MMmmm... i don't know. I think at this late date the card works better with so few matches left. Could you imagine the uproar when we had 48 matches going? Oh the gnashing of teeth that would have ensued. It also adds a bit more luck and gives the underdogs a better chance (not that i'm saying that's better). I don't think this card is terrible and honestly could have worked either way, just didn't fall on aether's side this round.

Also i think adjusting the discards might be helpful as well. Although i do think 18 may be a bit much for round 1. Perhaps 9-15-24-30.
