implying we are the same number of last war, every team will have

1 gen
3 players
4 total players

u are giving the chance to play in 3 or 2

3 players is really close to 4, there are no big difference unless u are playing with your other 2 bffs 4ever or something like this
2 players start to be risky if u argue with the other/the pc of other guy dies etc, at this point is a lot more safe solo (and i am not able to do that)

if we was a bigger community this was cool, i will probably only consider 3 players rather than the normal 4

i had a similar thought about the in-element discount, ending with wms forced to restrict so much cards that will be useless for some elements, it's a lot easier cut the 10% (example) off to the total of in-element cards, this help every team at the same way and u can't abuse it

I think 3 should be the absolute minimum for a team, otherwise we might find generals trying to effectively solo the whole thing. Considering how many new players have joined and become active participants in pvp events this year compared to before the last war, I'm expecting at least as many players as last year's war, if not more. Reducing team size further might not even be necessary.

I'm not even sure I'll participate this year, but one thing that I'd love to see discussed is the penalty for losing close matches. IMO, it would be cool if losing 0-3 didn't have the same result in discard (and/or perhaps salvage for the winning team) as a 2-3 result. I realize this would make things more complicated (especially for the poor warmasters), but I think it would improve the event (even though it would lengthen it).

I don't think a mercy rule thematically works with war at all. If anything, getting beaten harder should be more damaging!
And do we really want to extend what is already one of the most time consuming events?

There aren't any actual numbers, it's just a request of different amounts for losses. Your objection and td's proposal aren't mutually exclusive.
