WAR #11 Round 11 12 armies arrive at the glorious battlefield, each with their weapons drawn and their shields up ready for a battle. Each army is led by a daring General and a multitude of loyal troops, each ready to lay their life on the line for what they fight for. 12 armies will enter the battlefield, but only 1 will leave at the end.	Read the War Rules Contact Warmasters News Aether, Entropy and Death have been eliminated. Round updates will be much easier now. We finally catch up to war number with round number. This could potentially be the last round.
Deckbuilding Duel phase has started Teams have to build decks for all players who are fighting during this round. All team members participate in the planning. Please do not post your decks in public or talk about them in chat. All decks must be made ready before the timer goes to zero, after which, editing decks is strictly forbidden. Failure to have all of the decks ready will lead to a severe card penalty and/or automatic losses. It is highly recommended that all team members double-check their decks before the duels start.	Duels Fighting ends! Duel phase starts when deckbuilding ends. PM your opponent and try to find a suitable time. Time Zone Converter might be useful here. If you cannot find a time when you both are online, please contact Warmasters--Zawadx and Jenkar--immediately. If the match does not happen, you both lose by default unless one of you is clearly more active and flexible. Duels are "best-of-five", you must use the deck and mark built during the previous phase, and you cannot make any changes to your deck or mark during the round. Super Event Card Each deck can use one additional soldier boost. Generals and Lieutenants can use one boost, soldiers can use two. You may not repeat a boost. i.e. a boost may only be used once across all decks. Post all boosts used in a thread in secret section titled R10-12 Super EC. Event Card According to the order in Match Results and Countdown, the first player is considered Initiator and second person is considered as Defender. e.g. in Match 1 Manuel is the Initiator, and vagman13 is the Defender. After the first duel is finished, the Initiator may void it. Then that match restarts from 0-0. Sideboard may not be used if the scoreline is 0-0. After the Defender has lost the match 2-3, they may void the last game. Then the scoreline becomes 2-2, and the final duel determines the winner.	Battles Spoiler for Air: 3 Gen. This seems to favour the person on the left a little - there will always be a first game, but not always a 5th.

Well think about it this way: the only time that first game loss stops you from winning the series is if you end up losing 2-3. 

That's actually super elegant and now I'm wondering why the calculations don't work out perfectly. When I did the calcs, I found that the Initiator did end up with an advantage, but it's only 1% rise at the peak. Also the bonus is scale by your winrate, so it's not like anyone is getting an unfair advantage.

Like I said, the EC is pretty symmetric so yes. I had a choice between 2, and the other would actually be much worse without every team at 4 players.

That explanation makes sense. But then, if the EC only makes a difference if the match goes 2-3, replaying the 5th game seems better as the 5th game will always be a loss whereas there's a 40% chance you win G1 without replaying anyway.

I have greatly confused myself.

Initiator gets the advantage exactly when he loses the first game, as well as exactly 2 times in the next 4, then wins. The defender always gets to use his effect then, right?
