I also just saw that rain of fire = thunderstorm in prices... I believe it should be 10 cards higher.. not a major thing though.

Rain of fire is worse than thunderstorm in terms of cost/damage efficiency.

The effectiveness of cc is in what percentage of the meya it can OHKO, not in cost to damage ratio as with creatures

Yeah, but how many times would you play rain of fire over thunderstorm?

With bonewall or burning shield.. rof is deadly while thunderstorm will often means you need to have 2-3 in hands for a mass kill

So, based on the market system used last war and again this war, aether is virtually guaranteed to have the smallest starting vault each war. Last war, aether had the 4th cheapest auction and still started with the lowest vault. Now, they still managed to finish 3rd despite a not-so-great start, and I did win my last war with the lowest starting vault.

I'm sure this is some sort of an intended "handicap" for stronger elements. But it seems like the market price increases for aether were larger compared to other "strong" elements, including darkness who won last war. In fact, I think the market prices this war heavily favor darkness, but that is just my opinion.

It seems to me that if any element should have had the largest increase, it should have been darkness. Can someone provide any insight on this?

I am aware of this, but some elements seem to have gone up more than others, and the reasoning doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense to me

Doesnt make sense to me either  But hopefully, WM's knew what they were doing. We will found out after vault phase, i assume

Prices were determined by the use of those cards in successful decks. Now, we all know aether has some pretty damn OP cards, so everyone uses those. Hence the increase in their cost in some of them. Similar to every other strong and versatile card.

I understand that, but what's the endpoint? Every non-aether team is still going to purchase 6-9 dims, 4-9 fractals, and 6 lightnings regardless what the price increase is. The only thing that drastically increasing the price does is further lower aether's starting vault because we have to have 18-24 of each of those.

I was never a fan of this market price system, but something has to change. Like some sort of % discount for in-element purchases.

Smaller starting vault with strong cards > Bigger starting vault with weaker cards. Look at the last war starting vaults and see that it did not matter. Darkness, Air and Aether had the smallest vaults, but still ended top 3. Life and Water had the biggest vault, still placed pretty poorly. Gravity did indeed do well with the biggest vault, but I believe that was because of the team itself rather than the vault number.

I think you're missing the point ian. I am fine with having a smaller starting vault. But I am not fine with being handicapped more than the element that actually won the last war.
