I figured that this is such a big thing that it deserves its own topic.

Ever since we first started War, people have been asking about Team Rainbow. If we decrease team sizes for War #3, having a new 14th team would help compensate the decreasing number of overall participants.

If we did have a Team Rainbow, there are three major questions:

1. Who leads Team Rainbow?
2. What kind of Vault building rules do they have?
3. What kind of deckbuilding rules they have?

Here's one example of how we could do the deckbuilding for Team Underworld and Team Rainbow:
Team Underworld
- maximum of 3 copies of a single card. This restriction does not apply to Pillars or Pendulums.
- At least 50% of cards in the deck have to belong to a specific element. In other words, it's the same rule that all the 12 regular War teams have, with the exception that each of the Team Underworld players get to pick their own "main" element each round.
Team Rainbow
- maximum of 3 copies of a single card. This restriction does not apply to Pillars or Pendulums.
- All decks must be rainbow decks (cards from 5 or more elements)
- Can only use Quantum Pillars or Towers. All other Pillars or Towers are prohibited.
Team Underworld would have the advantage of being able to use any "main" element, but the disadvantage of 3 card limit.

Team Rainbow would have the advantage of using rainbow decks, but the disadvantage of having to use rainbow decks, plus the same 3 card limit.

I think this kind of deckbuilding rule would make these two teams totally different, therefore having both would make more sense.

hmm maybe it could be like a more restricted underworl with only two copies of a card per deck. only novas and quantum pillars for quanta production...

I voted YES.

1. Leader will be winner of team underworld, Team underworld would not be change since sizes will be reduce to <=7

2. Vault building Rules should be At least 5% each element.  (5 x 12 = 60%) So they can put 40% in w/e

3. Deck building = same as underworld

I'm not sure whether Team Rainbow is really necessary considering we have the Underworld already, aside from being a team from the start and not entering in halfway. But I'd be interested to see if it could be made sufficiently different to warrant its inclusion.

I would also have concerns about balance, but that's a seperate issue which I won't get into unless it is obvious that it would be a problem.

Well team rainbow would have to have atleast 5 different elements in every deck. A limit on how many cards of the same name they could play maybe.
I voted yes because I really can't think of a good reason why not to start a team rainbow. Maybe we could start a master of rainbow like the other elements.
Also I don't know how the vault thing works but seeing as they should have a wide range of options they should have limits if deck limits on the number of cards they can play is not working.
Now would rainbow decks have some sort of unfair advantage in war and if so how can we fix it?

Simpler is better and easier on those participating and those running it. adding another scene, I think, might start to complicate things.

I object.

Rainbow has to do with all the elements, and is a term associated with the Grand Master, the General of the winning team of the previous war. With Team Rainbow, the general of that team would basically have a same symbolic position as Grand Master, while the latter is a much significant title. Just keep it as underworld.

Also, if you're going to go with team rainbow, please choose some other icon...

I voted no.

While it may be awesome on paper to include as many people as possible in War, it loses the focus of the original intention of the event.  Veterans, recruited by Generals, duke it out in an organized fashion, as to provide everybody else with a great bidding/spectating experience.  If everybody is included in the event, than "taking sides" happens less and everybody just roots for the team they're on, which is not what I imagine in a huge event.

I'd propose a second competition, this one about designing a Rainbow Icon, instead of just using one of the icons from the Underworld Competition.

But that's if Rainbow becomes a real team, which I'm not for.

I say we should just replace underworld with Rainbow.

I agree with the 5%/element/vault rule suggested above (that leaves 40% for other cards, ie the quantum pillars they are going to need)

I think they could have the same deck building rules as underworld, or maybe it could be something like "excepting quantum pillars and nova, your deck must be at least 25% of one element". Something to give them a little more structure.

Instead of underworld, we just need a way that players can prove their worth rather than sit on the sidelines and watch as the masters choose the teams.

For example, all slaves are randomly paired and fight best of 3 using the rules for war with any element they choose. The losers may no longer post a slave application, thus halving the pool of slaves. At least everyone gets a chance to prove themselves.

Mercenaries could be matched with 2 other mercs. Any merc who loses twice (both) their battles would be out. This would eliminate a 3rd of the mercs approximately.

Loyalist would not have to do this, though they risk not getting bid on.

Just an idea but I think team rainbow should replace underworld and we should address people's desire to be chosen in some other way.

Underworld should suffice as team rainbow, leader should be the grandmaster.

War rules allow for one deck, your opponent is a total noob but happens to have the perfect counter => a pro that might get bid on for 24 cards is out of the game.

Generals should have complete freedom on whom to bid.

That aside, I don't think we should have both team Underworld and team Rainbow, one of them is good, both of them is overkill => bad.
