True...

But who "really dislikes" an element? That's just kinda cruel. Everyone has a favorite element, as you can see in Kuro's thread, but the "least favorite" element caused a lot of animosity and tough decisions.

1-2 "cards" extra would still get him sucked into an element he dislikes.
Well, think about it. It's bidding, which means that votes will probably be very tight. Those 1-2 extra votes may make all the difference. And the "veto" thing doesn't seem to do much to help the player choose the element he likes best...
Well then here's a thought.. how about superpose the systems and implement both? That way people avoid elements they don't want and prefer those they do, but the ultimate decision is up to the masters bidding? Also, is the bidding blind?

hmmm, how about we add another element to the bidding and winning of a slave? there should be a "slave competition" to determine the value of a slave, which is measured in the ammount and what cards they give to the element that succeeds in purchasing them. like "blah came out of the tournament in 1st place, so he/she has a value of 10 cards, he decides what cards they are prepurchase." and such
This could prolong the War too much though. You're talking about tournament/league with 60-80 or more people probably.

they're SLAVES. do you think slaves get a choice who buys them? the only way they can possibly have a glint of a choice is by threatening they would throw every match if they are bought by a certain element

It's not actually going to be called Slave Market, as SG said in Chat. And I think players should be able to participate in the decision-making, too. 12 people shouldn't dominate the entire War event.

You're saying that no one has an element they really dont want to fight for in the war? I REALLY doubt that. Besides, you're not forced to veto anything. You veto only if you dont want to play with some element, which is the main problem here.

I'd say its more important that you are not in your "disliked" element, than it is to be in your "preferred" element. More so because you're definitely not guaranteed to get into that element anyway. Say your preferred element is :earth, and there are 20 other people with preferred :earth. Your extra cards mean nothing then.

You actually doubt that? I don't. I wouldn't even mind playing for :air, the element I most "dislike". There are no elements I hate, and I think there are very few of us who actually hate an element.

And if you don't veto at all, then, essentially, you have no say in what happens to you, and I don't think that's fair.

And I also disagree with this, too:

I'd say its more important that you are not in your "disliked" element, than it is to be in your "preferred" element
Mostly because the second statement is a better subset of the first statement.

But would you mind playing for them in the war?

If yes, and if you are indeed representative of most of the Forum population, then I wholly accept Malduk's "veto" system.

ok thank god, everyone is getting caught up in the name "slave trade", because the players aren't slaves - they should have a choice in who they do and don't want to play for.
