Title: How to do the seeding?
Post by: Scaredgirl on June 03, 2010, 12:01:39 pm
This is how the system should be:

- 12 groups
- 6 players per group
- randomly select duel opponents (everyone fights everyone)
- you cannot fight your own team members

Randomizing would be really easy if not for that last part. It won't make it super difficult, but it won't be possible with the randomizers I've been using, without manually fixing seeding errors.

If anyone has suggestions on how to do this, I'm all ears. Some kind of simple seeding software would be awesome, or maybe an online service if someone knows one.

Thanks.

I can build one in Excel.

I'd suggest if Grouping to have 6 pods of 12 and pair in swiss.
If you want to keep it to pods of 6, I can make a selector to group so no 2 team mates are in the same pod.

Excel could work as a temporary solution but I'm more interested in either a web application or an online service. This way the person doing the seeding can do it easily without any excel files or the software itself.

One option would of course be if we used Google Docs for that.

Randomly number players 1 through 6, then use the first 6 rounds of a round robin tournament.  For the second round of the war, you could use the next 6 rounds.

Use the first 6 rounds of a round robin tournament? Vault restrictions would have kicked in by then. Walkovers cannot really be resolved for example, if one team commits a player and a deck to a particular fixture and the other team cannot.

I have a relatively simple system of doing this which is none of the above. Details coming later.
